Shirley Ballas has revealed she’s undergone £4,500 worth of high-tech aesthetic treatments, declaring that she looks better now than she did ten years ago.
Strictly’s head judge, 66, is preparing for the start of a new series of the BBC show, marking her tenth year sitting on the panel.
She has admitted that the thought of millions of eyes on her every Saturday night is daunting but this year she feels more confident than ever about her looks after undergoing a nitrogen plasma treatment designed to rejuvenate the skin without surgery.
The star is also turning back the clock amid reports of a new romance with Italian dancer Giuseppe Nonnis, 36, who she was spotted looking cosy with on a dog walk this weekend.

‘I recently saw some photographs of me taken in 2017, and if I’m really honest with myself, I was quite embarrassed,’ the dance icon explained.
‘I remember that back then I really wasn’t happy with my skin, I had sagging jowls, multiple lines and wrinkles plus lots of little age spots. I often had to rely on tinted makeup and heavy foundation to cover all those problem areas.’
Shirley said she has received a lot of criticism about her appearance in the past, admitting social media trolls have commented ‘things like, “Oh, you’ve got bingo wings,” “Oh, you need to see to your face, you have sagging skin,” or, “Your hair looks thin.”
She added that the transformation of her face has changed the tone of comments she receives online. ‘Now it’s shifted and they say, “Yes, she’s definitely had a facelift. No one looks that good at 66.” Well, I can assure all of you that write on social media, no facelift here, only my NeoGen.’
She added: ‘I’m going into this next series looking better than when I started and I can honestly say this is the most confident I’ve ever felt going into a new series.’
This year Shirley has had six NeoGen nitrogen plasma sessions with Dr Maude Calveley at the Ouronyx aesthetic clinic in central London, her fifth year of having the treatments.
‘I turned 66 a few weeks ago, and the ageing process is not slowing down, I need more support now than ever before, so I decided to up the ante on my treatments,’ she explained. ‘And I have to say I’m happier than ever with my skin.’
She’s not the only one that has noticed. Recently Shirley was working with her professional dancer son Mark Ballas on the US show Dancing with the Stars: The Next Pro.

Shirley said: ‘While working with Mark he kept looking at me and said, “I don’t know what you’re doing to your face mum but you look remarkable.” He will probably never understand how good he made me feel saying that.’
The Strictly star recently hit retirement age, turning 66 on September 6, but she has no intention of quitting work any day soon.
‘I don’t think I’m ever going to retire, but I am going to keep taking care of myself and taking care of my skin. I certainly don’t think I look 66,’ she gushed.
Dr Maude Calveley explained how the aim was ‘to firm the jawline and neck without surgery, even out skin tone and clear the sun damage, and to do it in a way that was invisible in progress, so she could carry on filming throughout.’
‘We have achieved all of that including around the delicate areas around the eyes, leaving her looking just like herself, only fresher.’
Shirley’s refreshed look comes amid reports she has ‘grown close’ to Giuseppe, who is 30 years her junior.
But on Tuesday Giuseppe’s mother Franca Nonnis admitted she had been shocked to hear claims of a budding relationship between her son and the TV star.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, from her home in Cagliari, Sardinia, she said: ‘Shirley is teaching Giuseppe, she’s an excellent teacher, one of the best and my son is her student.’
She explained that her son had recently broken up with a longtime girlfriend which had left him ‘heartbroken’.
‘That’s why I would be surprised if he was already in another relationship but if he is happy then I am happy. I just don’t think he’s ready yet for another relationship,’ Ms Nonnis, 56, said.
