Cheryl puts her Voice to the test as she entertains a bar crowd in Manchester. The latest judge on the hit ITV programme let her hair down after filming the latest round of auditions.
And she gave punters at Canal Street’s Via more than they bargained for on Tuesday with a rousing rendition of her number one 2009 solo hit Fight For This Love. Fans watched on as the Geordie former Girls Aloud star sat beside fellow new judge Kelly Rowland and belted out the karaoke classic.
Cheryl, 43, wore an eye-catching pink and green blazer with a black vest shirt. She paired it with bright pink pumps and a gold chain.
Kelly, 45, opted for an all block chic-biker look for the impromptu performance. The ex-Destiny’s Child star treated the crowd to some of her own numbers too, with 2009’s When Love Takes Over getting an airing.
Fans were clearly loving the double act and quickly took to social media to share their delight. One user on X, formerly known as Twitter, said: “As I live and breathe, @cheryloffcial is in Via.”
Kelly and Cheryl were seen rubbing shoulders with the bar’s resident drag queens before bursting into their own tunes.
They had been filming for the latest series of The Voice. They make up part of a brand new panel. Stacey Solomon and Alesha Dixon have taken on presenting duties, while Cheryl and Kelly are joined by Aitch and will.i.am in the big red chairs.
The overhaul meant there was no space for Sir Tom Jones after a decade in the hotseat. The decision was met with shock by fans and the Welsh crooner made it clear it wasn’t his decision.
In an online statement after the news broke, Sir Tom said: “To be clear, I did not want to leave The Voice as I love the show and really appreciate the audience. ITV made this decision – obviously a while ago, and I was just told recently.
“The reason given is because of a financial difficulty with insurance. They now say in the press they want to ‘refresh’ the show, and a new coaching line-up there wouldn’t be a chair for me.
“They are offering a much-reduced role where I would make an appearance but without being actually involved from the start, and I’m not thrilled about that. So the only thing I know right now is that there’s never a good time to fire an 86-year-old who’s still pretty good at his job.”
A Show spokesperson told the Mirror: “We have loved working with Sir Tom Jones over the past nine years on The Voice UK. While he will no longer be a full-time coach on series 15, we continue to talk to Sir Tom and his team about his involvement in the next series.”
