Woman, 70s, ‘wakes without backache’ for first time in years with ‘best’ sale mattress

The popular mattress is now on sale and shoppers are saying it gives the ‘best sleep I’ve had in years’

A bad night’s sleep can affect the whole day ahead, but investing in a new mattress or bedding can prove pricey. Now, popular retailer Emma Sleep is offering a Back to School Sale with up to 35% off a range of mattresses.

One budget-friendly buy is the Emma Original Lite Mattress, which has a medium-firm design. Available with 10% off, it costs £179.10 in a single (was £199), rising to £260.10 in a double (was £289) and £296.10 in a king (was £329).

Other sizes are also available, including a small double, a super king and EU double and queen options. The mattress features four layers with Hybrid 3-zone springs and breathable foam.

Emma also says it’s been designed with new and improved edge support. Easy to care for thanks to a washable cover that’s gentle on the skin, it also boasts a soft foam layer that adapts to the body from the very first use.

The Supportbase cushions the body, allowing users to move effortlessly in their sleep. The bottom cover also helps to grip the bed, ensuring stability.

If this particular Emma design doesn’t suit, shoppers may instead opt for the retailer’s most popular Emma Original Pro Mattress, which is also reduced by a slightly more generous 20%. A single starts from £375.20 (was £469) and the mattress boasts a premium cover, a temperature-balancing layer and a pressure-point-relieving design.

Elsewhere on the high street, the Dunelm Dunelm Rolled Memory Foam Open Coil Hybrid Mattress 19cm has also been cut in price, now selling for £127.20 in a double (was £159). Meanwhile, at Simba, the Hybrid® mattress costs £699 for a single and features patented Aerocoil® microsprings combined with extra deep Simbatex® foam to offer cushioned comfort.

Emma’s Original Lite Mattress boasts a near-perfect review score of 4.5 out of five stars. One five-star review reads: “It’s a long time since I’ve woken up without a backache. Best mattress I’ve had in a long time. When you’re in your 70s, you blame everything on arthritis, but I think it could have been my old mattress. I would highly recommend Emma’s mattress.”

A second mature shopper also said: “Good mattress for the money (age 75).” A third person wrote: “Immediately felt the difference after the first night, was soft and comfortable, I woke with no usual daily upper/lower back pain, but I did reach out to the company to request a topper, just to add the last additional reassuring extra layer of comfort.

“They were really friendly and helpful, making the process so quick and easy. I have already recommended my sister to buy one. Really happy with the quality of the product.”

It is worth noting that mattress preferences vary, and one person did describe the design as ‘a bit too firm’ for their liking. Despite this, someone else said: “Best night’s sleep ever. I can’t recommend this product enough. Absolutely wonderful!”

Meanwhile, another reviewer commented: “This mattress is perfect for a comfortable and cheap option, but still high quality!”

Another person echoed this, writing: “The first night’s sleep on the new Emma mattress was the best I’ve had in years. As I lay my head on the pillow, the next thing I know is the morning.

“I have historic back and neck issues, so usually I’m tossing and turning to find a comfortable position. Not anymore since I got the Emma mattress. Many thanks.”
