Australian crime comedy starring Will Forte and D’Arcy Carden
Year: 2025
Certificate: 15
Martin Martin (Will Forte) is clearly not one of life’s winners and when he’s picked up in a bar by a confident, beautiful woman (Jessica De Gouw) you can’t help but suspect her motives. Sure enough, one night of passion is the catalyst for an escalating pile of misfortune lumped upon Martin in this comedy crime drama.
American Martin is visiting Australia with his sister Vicki (D’Arcy Carden), where they are launching a line of self-tanning products. He’s also hoping to rekindle his relationship with his estranged wife, but he’s got a long way to go before things start going his way.
Vicki isn’t exactly a success story herself, but she’s got bags more chutzpah than her brother, perhaps enough to get them into more trouble, as well as out of it. The trouble escalates quickly in the first episode, into a full-blown violent farce involving the Sydney criminal underworld, and it might all have been fine if a crocodile hadn’t wandered onto a golf course.
Forte (The Four Seasons) and Carden (The Good Place) are both accomplished comic actors playing to their quirky strengths here and you can expect them both to rise to the occasion in a dark, sassy, romp of a show. (Eight episodes)
