Prasad Corp Collaborates with Matinee Now to Restore Priyadarshan’s Malayalam Classic Thenmavin Kombathu in 4K Dolby Atmos. Prasad Corp is a global leader in film preservation, restoration, and post-production company, has collaborated with Matinee Now on the 4K restoration of Priyadarshan’s iconic Malayalam film Thenmavin Kombathu. The 1994 blockbuster is set to return to theatres worldwide on the 1st of October, 2026, in a restored 4K Dolby Atmos version.
Starring Mohanlal, Shobana, Nedumudi Venu, Pappu and Sreenivasan, Thenmavin Kombathu is widely regarded as one of Malayalam cinema’s memorable classics. The theatrical return offers audiences an opportunity to revisit the much-loved film with enhanced visual clarity and an immersive audio experience, while retaining the character and essence of the original work.
As part of the restoration, the original 35mm film print was scanned in 8K, then down converted to super 4k and restored in super 4K resolution, followed by a new Dolby Atmos sound mix. The restoration process was overseen for execution by Matinee Now in collaboration with Prasad Corp, bringing together specialised expertise in film restoration, scanning and post-production.
