Coffee lovers could also have reason to rejoice as a second company is expected to take up residence there

Nando’s has submitted plans for a new restaurant in Prestwich.
The chain is looking to move into part of the former TGI Fridays venue in Valley Park Road. The building, which sits next to the town’s Premier Inn, just off Junction 17 of the M60, has stood empty for a number of years, with the site falling into disrepair.
Nando’s said its proposals ‘dramatically’ refresh and revitalise the appearance of the building through the creation of a ‘high-quality’ and ‘vibrant’ restaurant. A spokeswoman for the company said they hope the new restaurant will be open ‘early next year’.

Its plans, submitted to Bury council for approval, include outdoor seating, with six tables and 12 chairs proposed for the site.
It will also have an access hatch built into the restaurant’s façade for deliveries to be collected by Deliveroo drivers. Nando’s has said the hatch will only be in use during the restaurant’s opening hours and will be shut between collections to minimise noise spillage.
The hatch will allow a ‘more organised and efficient’ collection process, reducing congestion at the building’s entrance, documents add. Customers collecting their own orders will do so from inside the restaurant.
A spokeswoman for Nando’s said: “We’re excited to be opening a new restaurant in Prestwich early next year. We’ll be able to share more info in the coming months.”
Work to divide the TGI Friday building in two has recently been carried out by construction company ABGi. According to the business, the tenant for the other half of the premises is expected to be Starbucks.
Starbucks told the Local Democracy Reporting Service it ‘did not have any updates to share’ about the potential move.
