Selena Gomez Opens Up About Motherhood Plans With Benny Blanco After Heartbreaking Confession

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco are set to celebrate their first wedding anniversary on September 27. Less than a year into their marriage, the couple has continued to speak publicly about their hopes of starting a family. While the pop star previously revealed she could not carry her children, she recently confirmed that she would eventually have kids. 

According to the Daily Mail, Gomez attended the Fast Company Innovation Festival in New York City, where she spoke about her motherhood plans. The singer shared that she is proud of her Rare Impact Fund and how it is making a difference. She added, “I think thWhile the pop star previously revealed that she cannot carry a pregnancy, she recently said that she hopes to have children of her own someday.ere’s a bunch of stigma around everything and I have a 13-year-old sister who means the world to me, and eventually I’ll have my own children, and this is something that I don’t want to be taboo.”

The Wizards of Waverly Place star candidly spoke about her plans to grow a family with Blanco. She continued to speak about her non-profit organization and said, “I don’t mind if people think it’s ‘out there,’ but I love what we have accomplished.” “I think we’ll just continue to grow in that manner and hopefully continue to do great things,” she added.

This was not the first time when Gomez opened up about her wish to be a mother. According to Vanity Fair, she revealed that her multiple medical conditions will not allow her to carry her own child. The 34-year-old said, “I haven’t ever said this, but I unfortunately can’t carry my own children.”

Gomez has previously spoken publicly about lupus and bipolar disorder. She said her medical issues would put her life and a baby’s life in jeopardy if she were to carry a pregnancy. The news was something she grieved about for a while, as it was not the way she “envisioned it.”

While she had once envisioned becoming a mother through pregnancy, she said she had reached a better place with the reality that she could not safely carry a child. Gomez shared that she was in a “better place” with the fact at the time. Moreover, she revealed how she was open to opting for surrogacy or adoption to grow her family. 

“At the end of the day, I don’t care. It’ll be mine. It’ll be my baby,” the Only Murders in the Building star said. She further joked that she is one of those people who are “dying to be moms.” The singer added that she is excited for her motherhood journey. 

Blanco also previously confirmed that he was looking forward to becoming a father. He joked on the Today Show that he was “pressing” to grow his family. He also gushed about how he wanted to be the best partner and the best parent, expressing that he was excited for the day to come.

Gomez and Blanco were friends for several years before they began dating. Besides sharing a friendly bond, they also collaborated professionally on a few songs. They kept their relationship private at first before making it public in December 2023. 

The music producer popped the question within a year of that, and Gomez said yes. The couple tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on September 27, 2025. They exchanged their vows in the presence of their family members and close friends.
