With energy bills set to rise from next month for those on standard price-capped tariffs, many will be looking for ways to conserve heat while keeping costs down at home. One way to save money could be to invest in a portable heater – and there’s one on Yimbly, an online marketplace owned by this site’s parent company, Reach Plc, which could do the trick.
The Dreo Electric Heater (1500W) is currently available for £59.99 – but with the discount code AUTUMN10 at checkout, this brings the price down to £54. The heater is designed for small to medium-sized rooms and it has three heat settings for customised use.
The site says it has a fast heating performance with thermostat control for adjustable comfort, and it features a 12-hour timer, fan mode and eco mode for everyday convenience. It is also built with an overheat protection function and tip-over safety features.
With its quiet operation, the site says it is suitable for bedrooms, offices and living spaces. It is portable, too, as it has a free-standing design and a carry handle for easy positioning, and it is finished in black with a compact tower-style shape.
As an alternative, shoppers could grab this 1500W Small Square Olive Heater for £30 from Dunelm. This small square heater features a stylish olive finish which ‘looks great in modern interiors’, and it has a compact design, adjustable thermostat and safety tip-over switch.
Or at Morphy Richards, there’s the HeatFlux 1.5kw Bedside Ceramic Fan Heater with Remote Control in black for £49.99, which also comes in the colour grey. This has three temperature settings, along with a touch screen, a remote control and timer setting.
The Dreo Electric Heater (1500W) has been rated highly, however. One shopper said: “Heats up the room quickly. Very handy to move around, lightweight.”
Another said: “Powerful and tiny. This little heater is great for my home office and keeps the room nice and toasty. Very unobtrusive and good looking. I run it on eco mode set to 19C – which is plenty. Runs very silently and can be used in a bedroom as well.”
Other shoppers left their thoughts on the product on Amazon, with another writing as part of a longer review: “Brilliant heater, instant heat that lasts. Has all the features and remote control I would associate with a much higher price point.”
Others left some feedback, with one shopper saying: “The remote that comes with this makes it very easy to use and (it) heats up small rooms, like bedrooms, very quickly. I wish it was oscillating so the heat would be spread out more evenly, but it is what it is. When I first turned it on, it smelled quite strong, but after, all was fine. Size is good to put on a bed table and not too heavy to move around rooms, too.”
This shopper added: “Powerful little thing. My only complaint is the cable isn’t that long, so if you’re wanting to stick it in the middle of a room, you might have to re-evaluate.”
