Taylor Swift won the final award of the night at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday (September 27) at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles.
The 36-year-old “Patient Zero” singer picked up Video of the Year for “The Fate of Ophelia,” which was presented to her by the evening’s host, Snoop Dogg. This is her sixth win in the category at the VMAs!
In her acceptance speech, Taylor dedicated the award to the late Dolly Parton, whom she called “the ultimate showgirl.”
Taylor started her speech by saying how proud she was of the “The Fate of Ophelia” video, and doing “one continuous shot,” for which she had to learn “a lot about hiding cuts.”
She then went on to dedicate the award to Dolly and praised the late entertainer.
“I want to thank and dedicate this award to one person, without whom just this wouldn’t be happening, and that person is the ultimate showgirl, Dolly Parton,” Taylor shared to cheers from the audience.
“Every single song that she wrote, her storytelling was so vivid and so rich. It was like listening to her songs,” she continued. “It’s like watching the best music video you have ever seen in your life every single time you hear what she has written, and she handled this thing with such grace and joy and love and gratitude for the fact that she got to do this, and everything that happened in her life or her career, she channeled back into love, and gratitude and appreciation for her fans.”
“I am lucky I got to be one of them, and I will always be one of them,” Taylor concluded. “I love you all so very much, and I think that we were all very, very… I think we were all very lucky to share this planet with Dolly Parton for a time, and thank you for this amazing moment. I love you all.”
After Dolly‘s passing the month before, Taylor paid tribute to the country music icon.
