Fellow inmates at Fort Dix say Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is living a life of luxury behind bars.
Sean “Diddy” Combs is living the high life in federal prison, according to a new report.
The disgraced rapper is currently serving a 50-month sentence on prostitution-related charges at FCI Fort Dix in New Jersey. But he’s hardly the average inmate, insiders told NBC News.

The Bad Boy Records founder has recruited other prisoners to cook and clean for him, and even give him massages. And he has ample access to contraband items, including a phone, high-end liquor, and prescription medications. Diddy even has a tablet that he uses to watch movies and TV shows, including Netflix’s 2025 docuseries Sean Combs: The Reckoning. (Video included with NBC’s report shows what appears to be a white-haired Combs using a phone behind bars.) Combs is allegedly spending thousands of dollars per month for those illicit perks.
“This is not some normal sh*t you see in jail. This is some rich sh*t,” said a man who’d spent time behind bars with the hip-hop star. “It looks crazy, but again, it’s Diddy.”
Multiple sources told NBC that Diddy – who is one of roughly 4,000 inmates at Fort Dix – has access to cellphones on which he can access social media as well as view nude and sexually explicit images that an old girlfriends sends to him.
“Pretty much the day he arrived, the party started,” a source said.
“He’s a billionaire. People are in awe of him,” another said. “Money is power, especially behind bars.”
This isn’t the first time that Diddy has been accused of using his status to make his prison life more comfortable.
“He knows how to work the system,” an insider said last year. “He acts like it’s a luxury rehab, not a federal facility.”
Diddy’s release date moved up once again
The news of Diddy’s cushy existence behind bars comes shortly after it was revealed that his release date has again been pushed up. When he was sentenced last year, it was expected that he’d be freed in May 2028. It’s changed several times since then. Now, according to the Bureau of Prisons website, Combs is set to be released on January 21, 2028. That’s despite having served a stint in solitary confinement this summer for fighting with another inmate.
In a statement shared with NBC, a spokesperson for Combs said his client’s life behind bars was not that interesting.
“The continued scrutiny of every mundane detail of Sean Combs’s life in prison has reached the point where the media characterizes ordinary prison life as news,” the spokesperson said. “The only real news is that Sean continues to serve his sentence while awaiting the court’s decision on his appeal.”
