After Curry Barker’s Obsession took theatres and audiences by storm this year, the director’s next film Anything but Ghosts has been given a release date of May 7th, 2027.
The film stars Barker and co-writer Cooper Tomlinson as a pair of wannabe “ghosthunters” who find themselves in over their heads as things spiral wildly and terrifyingly out of control. Anything but Ghosts will also feature Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Violet McGraw (M3GAN) and Chris Reinacher (Read The Room).
Barker and Tomlinson have collaborated together on a number of short comedy sketches on YouTube through their company That’s A Bad Idea. Their popularity on the video platform was one reason Obsession gained such a massive audience as they already had a built-in fanbase. Obsession was written and directed by Barker and starred Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Megan Lawless and Tomlinson. Johnston will be seen next in The Mummy 4 with Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz while Navarrette will be joining the MCU as X-Men member Rogue.
Obsession followed Johnston’s Bear and his infatuation with his friend Nikki. After gaining a trinket called a One Wish Willow, he wishes for Nikki to completely and utterly fall in love with him, but doesn’t realize the dangerous consequences in store for him until it is too late. Barker has previously teased Anything but Ghosts will take place within the same universe as Obsession with an Easter egg concerning the film’s aftermath.
Anything but Ghosts will be released on May 7th, 2027.
