Warning: SPOILERS for Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 4’s Finale – “Tomorrow’s Enterprise”
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds‘ fifth and final season only has 6 episodes to answer many questions left behind by season 4. Premiering on Paramount+ in 2027, Strange New Worlds’ final season’s climax is known: the prequel will end by leading into the start of Star Trek: The Original Series, with Captain James T. Kirk (Paul Wesley) taking over the USS Enterprise from Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount).
The fates of Lieutenant Spock (Ethan Peck), Lieutenant Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding), Nurse Christine Chapel (Jess Bush), and Scotty (Martin Quinn) are also fait accompli: they will all remain aboard the Starship Enterprise for Captain Kirk’s five-year mission and beyond. Most of them will remain loyal to Kirk and dedicate their Starfleet careers to the Enterprise for the next 30 years, although they don’t know this yet.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 5 will also reveal what canonically happens to Commander Una Chin-Riley (Rebecca Romijn), Lieutenant La’an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong), and Lieutenant Erica Ortegas (Melissa Navia), and Dr. Joseph M’Benga (Babs Olusanmokun) won’t remain the Enterprise’s Chief Medical Officer. Of course, Captain Pike is fated to have a horrible, disfiguring accident.
While all of this and more, such as the debuts of Dr. Leonard McCoy (Thomas Jane) and Hikaru Sulu (Kai Murakami), will be known by the time Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 5 ends, the final season has its work cut out for it, hopefully answering these lingering questions season 4 left unresolved.

Will Commander Pelia Return In Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 5?
Commander Pelia (Carol Kane) appeared to be written off at the end of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4, episode 9, “Once La’an a Time.” Pelia remained aboard the Kingdom of Elysian planet to guide it to its eventual destination, though her crewmates speculate that the 5,000-year-old Lanthanite ran off with a chef named Max.
Carol Kane was always a special guest star, even though Commander Pelia was Chief Engineer of the USS Enterprise. It’s likely that Pelia will be back in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 5, at least to pass the torch to her protégé, Scotty. After all, it would be very odd if “Once La’an a Time” was Pelia’s exit from Strange New Worlds.

Will Spock’s Parents Appear In Strange New Worlds Season 5?
Neither of Lieutenant Spock’s parents appeared in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4. Spock’s mother, Amanda Grayson (Mia Kirshner), visited the USS Enterprise in season 2, while Ambassador Sarek (James Frain) has canonically fallen out with Spock, and they’re not supposed to see each other again until Star Trek: The Original Series season 2’s “Journey to Babel.”
However, in a deleted Instagram post, James Frain teased his return to Star Trek: Strange New Worlds as Sarek. Since Spock’s parents were nowhere to be found in Strange New Worlds season 4, this leaves season 5 as the last chance to see Frain portray Ambassador Sarek and Kirshner as Amanda, although whether it will upend canon remains to be seen.

Will The Real Sybok Finally Appear?
“Sybok” appeared in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4’s soap opera episode, but not really; it was Spock’s “evil twin” (played by Ethan Peck) who was conjured by Trelane (Rhys Darby). The real Sybok remains imprisoned on Vulcan and hasn’t been seen in Strange New Worlds season 1.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 5 can finally answer lingering Sybok questions, including whether his spouse, the space pirate Captain Angel (Jesse James Keitel), will liberate him as they promised back in season 1. Perhaps a Sybok appearance can also tie into Spock’s parents joining season 5 for a Sarek family reunion, minus Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green), of course.

Another Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4 return tease that didn’t happen was Doug (Patton Oswalt), the Vulcan paramour of Commander Una Chin-Riley. On Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, Oswalt said that he was “doing more episodes” of Strange New Worlds, but Doug was nowhere to be seen in season 4.

Will Carol & David Marcus Appear?
Lt. Commander James T. Kirk confronts his feelings about being an absentee father to his young son, David Marcus, in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4, episode 2, “The Griffin Incident.” However, during press for season 4, it was hinted that David would appear, yet Kirk’s son and his mother, Carol Marcus, were nowhere to be seen.
“The Griffin Incident” also confirmed Lt. Sam Kirk’s (Dan Jeannotte) wife and sons, and perhaps they will appear in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 5 before Sam exits the USS Enterprise.

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier showed some romantic affection between Scotty (James Doohan) and Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), which became a ship that intrigued fans for 37 years. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 4’s finale, “Tomorrow’s Enterprise,” finally paid it off retroactively, so that Uhura and Scotty are a couple, albeit on Captain Kirk’s Enterprise one year in the future.
However, on Captain Pike’s Enterprise in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ main timeline, Scotty’s romantic interest in Nyota remains unrequited, although she is certainly aware of it. First mentioned by Lt. Erica Ortegas in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 3, Starfleet’s Division 12 came into clearer focus in season 4. An agency that investigates unusual and unexplained phenomena in the galaxy, Division 12 is, in effect, Star Trek‘s version of The X-Files.

Lt. La’an Noonien-Singh’s eventual fate could be tied to the USS Griffin if the ghost ship returns in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 5. La’an was possessed by the evil entity controlling the Griffin, which led her to stab James Kirk. At the end of “The Griffin Incident,” La’an locked eyes with the specter taking the form of Lt. Rose Harper (Sorika Wolf).

Will Admiral Reeger & The Romulan Bird-of-Prey Return?
Joe Morton was one of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds‘ most electrifying guest stars ever as Admiral Simon Reeger in season 4’s “Orders of Magnitude.” Reeger was hell-bent on destroying a mysterious cloaked ship, and had no qualms about massacring thousands of innocents. Reeger left the USS Enterprise unbowed after his plan was stopped by Lt. Commander James T. Kirk.
Kirk poisoned Reeger with cordazine, the same drug that drives Dr. Leonard McCoy (DeForest Kelley) to madness in Star Trek: The Original Series‘ “The City on the Edge of Forever.”

Will The USS Enterprise Get A Refit When Kirk Becomes Captain?
James T. Kirk will become Captain of the USS Enterprise at the end of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. This is known. Kirk’s first day on the job is said to be the focus of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds‘ series finale. However, will the Constitution-class NCC-1701 be different when Kirk takes over the center seat?
Under Captain Pike, the Starship Enterprise had a crew of 208, and the ship is roomier, with luxuriously sized crew quarters.
