The latest look at Avengers: Doomsday just got a little more interesting. The ScreenX version of the trailer expands the frame and exposes some footage that wasn’t as easy to spot before, including a better look at Doctor Doom and the mysterious figures gathering around him.
During a shot that pushes in on Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, the wider ScreenX image shows the Latverian Witches bowing to his right. It has pointed out that there appear to be more of these masked magic-wielders than previously realized.
We’ve been hearing for some time that Doom could be surrounded by female “variants,” but Marvel still hasn’t revealed who is actually hiding beneath those masks.
One popular theory has Elizabeth Olsen returning as Scarlet Witch, which would certainly make for an interesting reveal. She isn’t the only possibility, though.
A recent plot leak claims one of the Witches is actually a shape-shifter who takes the appearance of Peggy Carter, played by Hayley Atwell, as part of an attempt to deceive Steve Rogers, played by Chris Evans. That remains unconfirmed, but it’s an interesting possibility.
Other theories have suggested Charlize Theron could appear as Clea or Sophia Di Martino could return as Sylvie Laufeydottir. Marvel has plenty of magic users and multiversal characters to pull from, so there’s no shortage of potential identities hiding under those masks.
Whatever Doom is planning, he appears to be gathering some serious backup for Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars.
Marvel clearly still has some surprises being kept under wraps, but the ScreenX footage gives us another small piece of the puzzle, and those Latverian Witches are becoming increasingly hard to ignore.
The big question now is whether they’re simply Doom’s followers or familiar Marvel characters hiding in plain sight.
Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars on December 17, 2027.
