Meghan Markle could be heading for a U.K. red carpet with her new movie. Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams thinks she could show up at the premiere of Close Personal Friends. Speaking to the Daily Express, Fitzwilliams said the Duchess could make a pretty big appearance at the premiere.
“Meghan is known not to be a shrinking violet. She is notorious for her ruthless positivity and her fondness for glamorous appearances,” he said. The royal commentator also linked her possible appearance to the movie itself.
“Meghan’s cameo in the film Close Personal Friends, where she plays herself, might lead to a red carpet appearance. Though the film is in post-production and she hasn’t reportedly got much to do in it,” Fitzwilliams added.
For now, though, the Amazon MGM comedy is still in post-production. There’s no release date yet, either. Jason Orley directed Close Personal Friends. He also co-wrote the screenplay with Isaac Aptaker. The cast includes Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Henry Golding, and Jack Quaid. Markle appears in a small cameo as herself. According to Variety, her cameo first came to light in November 2025.
Its filming took place around Los Angeles, with Markle spotted on set in Pasadena. The role marked her return to on-screen acting after Suits. She played Rachel Zane on the legal drama before leaving the show in 2017. Markle later opened up about the upcoming movie herself. In a 2026 Variety interview, she was asked what it was like getting back into acting.
“It was great! It was a lot of fun.” Markle and Prince Harry returned to the U.K. with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet on August 26. The family had spent most of the years since 2020 living in California. Harry has already been out for several public events. He attended the Invictus Spirit Awards in Greenwich on September 17.
The next day, he visited a school in Birmingham to launch the Invictus education program. On September 21, he showed up at the WellChild Awards in London and presented an award. He later headed to New York for the Clinton Global Initiative, where he spoke about AI, social media, and children. He was also spotted in Toronto later in the month for a charity skydive.
Markle, meanwhile, has kept things private. However, she has still been spotted around the U.K. She met longtime friends Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi at The Three Horseshoes pub near Burford. Previously, on September 13, Markle shared a glimpse of that life on Instagram.
Her video featured family moments with Harry, Archie, and Lilibet. So far, her public schedule has been much quieter than Harry’s. Her acting plans, though, could give her another reason to step out. This year, she also made a guest appearance as a judge on MasterChef Australia. According to Deadline, Markle was also in early talks for a possible role in Netflix’s The Gentlemen Season 3.
