The Men We Forgot: Rahul’s Inspiration for Ranabaali Character

Ranabaali continues to build its historical world through the documentary series Never Forget The Truth, with the third episode, The Men We Forgot, now streaming on YouTube.

Unlike the earlier chapters that explored the broader historical backdrop, this episode focuses more closely on the real-life personalities who inspired the creation of the film’s central character.

The episode reveals that director Rahul Sankrityan looked to the history and cultural memory of Rayalaseema while developing Ranabaali.

The filmmaker found inspiration in the stories of Budda Vengal Reddy, Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy and Gadekal Bobbili Nagireddy, three figures whose lives reflect courage, leadership, sacrifice and resistance.

Gadekal Bobbili Nagireddy’s legendary story became one of the starting points for Sankrityan, while his research into the great famine led him to the story of Budda Vengal Reddy and his efforts to help people during the crisis.

Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy’s fight against the British also influenced the filmmaker.

Sankrityan’s personal connection to Rayalaseema further strengthened the character-building process, as he had grown up seeing people who displayed courage and determination while working for the welfare of others.

These influences were brought together to create Ranabaali, a character shaped by the physical strength, bravery and fearless spirit associated with the region’s warriors.

Starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, Ranabaali is directed by Rahul Sankrityan and presented by T-Series.

Produced by Naveen Yerneni and Y. Ravi Shankar under the Mythri Movie Makers banner, the film is gearing up for a worldwide theatrical release on October 16.

The fourth documentary episode, The Last Load, will be announced soon.
