Netflix has a new true crime documentary getting a lot of attention.

The Widower: ‘Til Death Do Us Part arrived on the streaming service on Wednesday (September 30) and revisits the decades-long story of Thomas Randolph, a Nevada man who was married six times and was eventually convicted of murdering his sixth wife, Sharon Causse, and Michael Miller.

The documentary follows journalist Dan Slepian and Las Vegas detective Dean O’Kelley as they examine Randolph‘s marriages, the deaths of several of his wives, and the investigation that resulted in his murder convictions.

What happened to Sharon Causse?

Sharon and Michael were killed at the Las Vegas home she shared with Randolph on May 8, 2008.

Randolph told investigators that he returned home with Sharon and later discovered that she had been shot. He maintained that Michael was an intruder and that he shot him after encountering him inside the house.

Prosecutors presented a very different account at trial. They alleged that Randolph had recruited Michael, who had worked as his handyman, to kill Sharon as part of a staged home invasion so that Randolph could collect more than $300,000 in life insurance money. Prosecutors said Randolph then killed Michael to eliminate him as a witness. Randolph has maintained his innocence.

The case also drew additional attention because of Randolph‘s marital history. Four of the six women he married had died by the time of his arrest, though those deaths did not all result in criminal charges or convictions.

His second wife Becky Gault died in Utah in 1986 in a death that was initially ruled a suicide. Randolph was later charged with her murder, but a Utah jury acquitted him in 1989.

Why was Thomas Randolph tried twice?

Randolph was arrested in 2009 and then held in custody for eight years before going to trial in 2017. He was consistently hiring lawyers and then firing them before the trial would begin, resulting in multiple delays.

Eventually, he did go to trial and a Nevada jury found him guilty on two counts of first-degree murder. But in December 2020, the Nevada Supreme Court overturned his conviction.

He got a new trial in 2023 that was focused only on the murders of Causse and Miller. The jury found him guilty yet again on two counts of murder and in April 2024, he was sentenced to 60 years to life.

Where is Thomas Randolph now?

He is now serving out his sentence at the Lovelock Correctional Center in Pershing County, Nevada. Randolph has repeatedly tried to appeal his latest sentence but as of September 2026, it was dismissed, the Nevada Supreme Court has dismissed his appeal plea and upheld his conviction. He is now 71 years old.

The Widower is now streaming on Netflix.
