Sir Paul McCartney has shared details on the performance he gave at Taylor Swift’s wedding earlier this year.
The pop singer and her NFL player husband, Travis Kelce, both 36, married at New York’s Madison Square Garden on July 3.
Over 1,000 guests attended the event, including Sir Paul, who sang a rendition of The Beatles track “I Want To Hold Your Hand”.
The track, released back in 1964, was the band’s first number one single in the United States and was credited with kicking off Beatlemania after they played on The Ed Sullivan Show.
Sir Paul has now provided further insight into his performance at the celebration.
During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he explained that Swift asked him to sing the track, but he invited her to join in.
“She was on stage and I said, ‘you should sing along, and you should sing it to your man’,” he said.
Kimmel replied: “Seems like reasonable advice!”

While Sir Paul did not confirm if Swift serenaded her husband, Kelce previously stated that he had taken to the stage that evening.
In a July edition of the Ross Tucker Football Podcast, his brother Jason Kelce discussed Travis’s vocals on the night.
He said: “Yeah, Trav can sing. Trav has always been able to carry a tune. Obviously, pale in comparison to some of the other people singing that night, but he did OK.
“I think the Tuckers definitely have us beat in beer pong, I know that. I don’t know if I’ve ever met a better beer pong player than Ross Tucker. So, we can sing all right. Trav is very good. But, yeah.”
In 2024, McCartney was spotted attending one of Swift’s Eras Tour concerts at Wembley Stadium in London.
She subsequently watched Sir Paul perform at the Fonda Theatre in Los Angeles in March this year.
Speaking on BBC Radio 2’s Tracks Of My Years in May this year, Sir Paul offered further praise for Swift.
“Taylor (Swift) is very good. She’s very clever,” he told host Vernon Kay.

Comparing her immense popularity to the height of Beatlemania, he noted: “You do see the parallel, you know like, fame and the amount of fame, and the worldwide fame that Taylor Swift has and that we had. But, I don’t think she needs any advice, to tell you the truth.”
