London-set romcom about a couple who break up on the first day of their tenancy
Year: 2026
Certificate: 15
There are a good number of things that can make a break-up hard. But what can certainly make it painfully awkward is having to continue living together because of your rental contract. If only the Renters’ Rights Act had been about when Ben and Lil broke up!
Starring BAFTA-nominated Samuel Bottomley and award-winning comedian Lara Ricote, this romantic comedy sees the university graduates from Leeds navigating their new lives down in London, where their relationship has ended but not their tenancy. Will they be able to move on from each other? Or will being confined to their flat see them work things out? Only time will tell.
In many ways this is a very traditional kind of romcom – she’s an overachiever, he’s laidback, perhaps there’s a middle ground – but it has a nice authenticity to it, and it’s nice to see how the show grew from a short Channel 4 Comedy Blap into this series. (Six episodes)
