Hairy Bikers star Si King finds love again with ‘very special lady’

Si King has revealed he is dating again after wanting to cut himself off from the world following the death of his close pal and Hairy Biker co-star Dave Myers

Hairy Bikers star Si King has revealed he has found love with a new partner – and called his new girlfriend “very special”.

It comes two years after Si lost his best pal Dave Myers. His friend’s death left him feeling lost and he admitted he had considered ‘riding into the sunset’ as he wanted to be left alone and cut off.

Dave, who made up the famous Hairy Bikers with Si, died aged 66 in February 2024. He had been diagnosed with cancer two years earlier and underwent chemotherapy as well as other treatment.

And while his death left his pal feeling like he wanted nobody to be able to reach him, it appears has has let someone break down his barriers. Si gushed he is now “very happy”.

Spealng to The Sunday Times magazine, he said “It’s been wonderful and continues to be wonderful. And you know, I think the lads [his sons] are really happy, as is my ex-wife Jane, actually.”

Si was previously married to Jane Dodd, but the pair separated in 2016 after 27 years together. His career was cited as cause for their breakdown due to its tough demands and his long absences.

Si went on to say he understands he wasn’t “present” for many years and that it had affected his home life. But his job went from strength to strength as he and Dave toured the continent for their numerous food shows.

Earlier this month, Si admitted that grief is a ‘constant surprise’ and he is still processing the loss of his pal. The Bikers came to an end with the death of Dave Myers in February 2024, and his pal Si King has admitted he “doesn’t know what else to do” as he deals with his grief.

Si admitted that he was continuing to work following Dave’s death in part because he doesn’t know what else to do during this period. He added: “I’m all right. I mean, look, it’s challenging and I continue to work probably too hard, but I kind of don’t know what else to do.”

And he previously admitted he felt somewhat guilty for a year after Dave’s death. Speaking to Lauren Laverne on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, he said: “The first year, I didn’t want to do anything at all.

“I just didn’t have it in me and then when I was shooting the show, I felt a sense of guilt that I was doing something that when he wasn’t there.

“It was a very odd experience, because I was having to remember and deliver pieces to camera that I’d go ‘ah you can do this’.”
