‘Heated throw will be a game-changer for winter’ and now £30 for Amazon Prime Day

‘Much nicer and ‘cheaper’ than just sitting on the sofa with the central heating on’

Autumn is officially here, and while I’m all for cosy season, curling up on the sofa with a good book and candles burning, I’m the first to complain when I’m a little too chilly. And I’m already doing my best to not cave in and put the heating on yet.

My husband is always the first to tell me to put an extra layer on, or use a blanket to warm up while working from home. But with this in mind, I’ve been on the hunt for a heated throw to keep me warm and snug ahead of the winter months – and think I’ve found the perfect one from Amazon that is ticking all the boxes.

The Bedsure Electric Blanket Heated Throw has been designed to keep you warm without cranking up the heating. It features six heating levels, as well as 10 timer settings – ideal if, like me, you’re prone to nodding off on the sofa in the evening.

So far I’ve been using it for cosy evenings on the sofa reading my latest book on my Kindle or watching TV, or even keeping my legs toasty and warm while I work-from-home for four days of the week when I’m reluctant to turn the heating on when it’s just me in the house.

As the temperatures continue to drop through autumn and winter, I’ll also be using as an extra layer on my bed at night. Even my cat and toddler are huge fans too!

A variety of colour options and sizes are available

What’s even better, the Bedsure Electric Blanket Heated Throw is on offer for Amazon Prime Day, which runs until 11.59pm on Wednesday, October 7. I opted for the grey flannel design which has the biggest discount currently, reduced from £49.99 to £29.99.

Other colour options are available if you’re looking to match with your home decor – however prices vary on Amazon. There’s also black, ash grey, beige, green, grey blue, navy, pink, red, sage green and taupe – as well as striped designs in a range of colourways.

I also chose the smallest option on offer, which measures at 130cm x 160cm, perfectly sized for an individual. However, you can also choose bigger sizes – with 130cm x 180cm and 180cm x 200cm also available for differing prices.

My review of the Bedsure Electric Blanket Heated Throw

My initial impressions of the Bedsure Electric Blanket Heated Throw were amazing – and I think it will be a real game-changer for the winter months. And I’m questioning why I didn’t buy one sooner.

The throw is plush and cosy – and I love the versatile grey and fleecy white on the underside. When I first unpacked it from the box and switched it on, the first thing I noticed was how simple and easy it was to use.

The remote has four simple buttons – an on/off button, pre-heat setting, temperature and timer. The six heat settings are easy enough to click through, and I was surprised at how quickly it warmed up.

Within minutes, I felt cosy and warm, and the dials were easy enough to turn down. I’ll definitely be using the timer option more to warm up my bedding when the colder months arrive.

It means I haven’t actually switched my heating on yet, as the blanket has kept me warm in the cooler evenings or chilly work-from-home days. The wire is long enough to be plugged in and reach either my desk, bed or sofa too.

You can also detach the wiring from the plug to use as just a standard blanket, too. The pre-heat function is supposed to ensure ‘gentle warmth without sudden temperature spikes’, although I’m yet to try out this setting.

My only downside is that you can feel the wiring throughout the blanket, but that’s just me being picky. But with the wiring featured throughout the blanket means even heat distribution too, so I can’t moan too much.

Elsewhere, Argos sells the Silentnight Teddy Fleece Electric Blanket from £40. It is available in sizes single, double and king for varying prices.

Dunelm’s Teddy Electric Blanket starts from £35. The blanket is also available in sizes single, double, king and super king with prices up to £50.

‘So cosy and quick to heat up’

Back to the Bedsure Electric Blanket Heated Throw, I’m not the only one who is a fan, as the blanket boasts a 4.3-star rating on Amazon. As part of a lengthy review, Sam said: “I bought this after returning several inferior ones in a quest to replace a much-loved heated throw whose controller had given up. Finally, in this blanket, I found a worthy successor!

“It’s fairly thick (you can feel the wires a bit but it’s not uncomfortable), very soft, just right size to keep me warm while working from home and the controller is nice and neat. The green colour is very nice, too. It heats up fairly quickly to be nice and toasty, and I appreciate the timer function, as this had stopped working in my old one.

“Part of why I went for this one is the manufacturer actually stated what temperature it heats up to, which many more expensive brands don’t do and often that means they don’t get very warm! This one does.”

Amanda commented: “So cosy and quick to heat up. A boon in cold weather. I had burgundy colour which felt warm and wintery.”

Elizabeth posted: “Addictive! Much nicer and ‘cheaper’ than just sitting on the sofa with the central heating on. Lovely quality and easy to set up and vary the heating level with a timer. Bought one for my hubby, who regularly nods off on the sofa. It’s so good I bought one for myself. Dogs love it too, but they have their own special mat also from Amazon. Excellent value and used every day since it arrived just after Christmas. Soft and cosy and robust.”

However, Pat wrote: “Flex not very long, does not reach my plug socket. Should have sent it back, really. Also seems quite thin.”

And another shopper added: “This has literally saved me hundreds. Working from home in the winter, I don’t want to have to heat the house all day, so this nifty blanket on my lap saves me from having to spend on heating the house. It doesn’t get really hot on your lap, but warm enough to make a big difference.”
