Stephen Curry is entering his 18th NBA season, and he’s a rare breed of professional athlete who’s spent his entire career with the same franchise. The Golden State Warriors selected him with the seventh pick of the 2009 NBA Draft. With 11 All-NBA selections, 12 All-Star nods, two MVPs, and four NBA championships, it’s safe to say the pairing worked out quite well. Curry has also twice led the league in scoring and is the NBA’s all-time leader in three-pointers.
Curry’s contract was going to wrap up after this upcoming season, but the Warriors put a quick end to that with a new extension: $116 million over two years. The deal, which begins with the 2027-28 season, includes a player option for the second year. Curry will make the decision on the final year of his contract when he’s 40 years old.
The superstar took a bit of a hometown discount with this deal. Curry could have signed for about $20 million more over the duration of the deal, so the Warriors are saving around $10 million per season. They’ll use that extra cash to either sign current players, such as Jimmy Butler, to longer contracts, or they might be able to lure a free agent to the Bay Area.

To date, Curry has made a little over $470.1 million over his NBA career, per Spotrac. He’s set to make just under $62.6 million this upcoming season before the new deal kicks in. By the time that contract is complete, assuming Curry opts into the second-year option, he’ll be approaching $650 million in career earnings.
If he’s still playing at a fairly high level and his shooting remains elite, he could potentially sign one final deal with the Warriors. Two years and $100 million might be a lot for a player who would be 41 at that point, but the Warriors and Curry would have spent two decades together. Maybe they still offer him a financially lucrative package for his last contract and he tops three-quarters of a billion dollars in on-court earnings.
Of course, Curry has made plenty off the court, as well. He’s had endorsement deals with Under Armour, Li-Ning, and Google, among other major companies. His Unanimous Media production company has created multiple shows, and his Underrated Golf Tour has provided access, opportunity, and equity to youth golfers.
Collectively, between his Warriors contracts and endorsement deals, Curry has made over $1 billion during his NBA career. Not bad for an undersized two-guard coming out of college. He’s only turned into one of the wealthiest players of all time, and he’s the greatest shooter the league has ever seen.
