Apple TV's 10/10 Post-Apocalyptic Sci-Fi Smash Is Officially One of the Biggest Shows on Streaming

Following the Primetime Emmy Awards earlier this week, one of Apple TV‘s best shows is making a massive comeback on streaming ahead of Season 2. Released late last year, the post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller sees Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul) play a woman who is determined to save the world from happiness.

Heaven Forbid Anyone Finds Peace on Earth

Hitting Apple TV on Nov. 7, 2025, Pluribus comes by way of Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan, and stars Seehorn as Carol Sturka, a cynical, unhappy romance novelist who finds herself in an extraordinarily strange new world. Once a haven for war and strife, the Earth suddenly becomes a place of peace and tranquility. Everyone is happy, cooperative, and gone are the negative emotions that help define our existence. Sounds pretty good, right? Not to Carol.

As one of the few who are not affected by this new global collective consciousness, Carol becomes increasingly disturbed by what’s going on. Forced to navigate a society where individuality is becoming a thing of the past, she works to uncover the truth behind the phenomenon, while at the same time trying to resist a power that may have fundamentally changed what it means to be human.

Scoring a near-perfect 99% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, Pluribus has been called everything from “unapologetically character-driven” to a series that “does a brilliant job tackling questions of individuality, consent, and culture.” That being said, viewers haven’t been as keen on the series as pundits, giving it an audience score of just 68%.

Still, even though Pluribus Season 1 proved to be quite divisive, it did score a massive 18 Emmy nominations. The series managed to win six trophies in total, including one that went to Seehorn for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series. Its time in the spotlight this week has even propelled it back into the top 10 on Apple TV, where it’s once again a streaming hit.

‘Pluribus’ Makes a Comeback in Streaming

Before the Emmys this week, Pluribus had all but dropped off Apple TV’s daily list of Top 10 TV Shows, but following the ceremony on Sept. 14, it’s back with a vengeance to remind people just how good it really is.

Per Flix Patrol, Pluribus now sits as the seventh most-popular series across all of Apple TV on both the global and U.S. top 10 lists, taking up space alongside the likes of Widow’s Bay, Ted Lasso, Slow Horses, Silo, and the new crime thriller, Last Seen.

Betting big on Pluribus, Apple initially ordered two seasons of the sci-fi thriller with the hopes that it would become a hit. They were right, but don’t look for Season 2 to drop anytime soon. While Gilligan and company are hard at work on the scripts and production is expected to begin at some point later this year, the series isn’t expected to return to Apple TV until late 2027 or early 2028.
