With the unpredictable weather comes a need for versatile wardrobe staples, and a shacket – a cross between a shirt and a jacket – is the ideal transitional piece to bridge the gap between summer and winter. Offering both comfort and an autumnal colour is the Burgundy Cosy Hooded Shacket from Asda which is available for £32.
Made from a “soft-touch” 100% polyester fabric, it features a press-stud front fastening, long sleeves with adjustable stud-button cuffs and a detachable nylon toggle hood.
The Asda jacket comes equipped with four pockets, including two stud-flap chest pockets and two traditional side-slip pockets.
It comes in sizes XS to XXL though in-store availability may vary from online.
One fan of the shacket left a five-star review on the George at Asda website, which reads: “When I say this jacket is soft you better believe it. I could hug myself all day wearing this thing.
“It has pockets where you normally expect them as well as the pockets at the top. The hood is detachable. Buttons on the cuffs so you can wear the cuffs looser. Perfect autumnal colour.”
However, the shopper did have some issues with sizing. The review added: “My only gripe is the hood is a bit on the small side but I find a lot of clothing designers simply don’t make hoods big enough. I’m a 10/12 and sent the medium back for a small. Small fits great even with a jumper underneath.”
For a much more lightweight option, Sainsbury’s Preppy Check Shacket is available for £28.
The checked shacket comes in pink or blue. It is made from a lightweight fabric and has an on-trend high collar.
It has elasticated cuffs and hems plus a covered zip fastening.
Shoppers have given the Sainsbury’s shacket mixed reviews. While some loved the style, others said the fabric was too thin for autumn.
