Auf Wiedersehen Pet star Georgina Lightning has died at the age of 63 following an accident involving a horse in Canada as Tim Healy pays tribute

Actress Georgina Lightning has died at the age of 63. The Auf Wiedersehen Pet star died after being struck by a horse that veered off course at a rodeo event.
The actress and filmmaker had been filming a documentary about the three-day Indian Relay event at Canada’s Enoch Rodeo Grounds. She was pronounced dead at the scene after being treated by paramedics.
Alberta RCMP confirmed that police had responded at 6.40pm on Saturday following the incident. It’s said the horse hit the actress as she was taking photos from a designated media area.
Her heartbroken daughter, Crystle, paid tribute to her mum on Facebook. She wrote: “Today she made her way to the spirit world and I am in shock. I am shattered in every way possible.
“I have lost my mother, my sons Kohkum, my matriarch, my role model, my confidant. That’s all I can say right now. I’m wrecked.
“How am I going to get through this and tell my son. How am I going to pick my self up off the floor and be a mother to him. Please creator help me this can’t be real. It just can’t be real.”
She also shared snaps of her mother taken just two weeks ago. She added: “My beautiful mother 2 weeks ago. She didn’t like taking headshots so I went with her for support.
“I did her makeup and helped her with her wardrobe. Ryan Parker captured her spirit. These photos represent her better than the photo that’s going around from a roll she played in Trickster. I love you mommy.’
The actress was known for her role as Lainie Proudfoot in four episodes on Auf Wiedersehen, Pet. In it, she played a Native American girlfriend and later wife of one of the main characters, Brian “Bomber” Busbridge (Pat Roach).
Tim Healy, who starred in the show, paid tribute to her following her death. On X, formerly known as Twitter, he wrote: “‘RIP Georgina lovely lady and a joy to work with.”
Friends of the star also paid tribute. Another user wrote: “I’m deeply saddened to hear of Georgina Lightning‘s passing. She and her family were an important part of my life when I first came to the United States, and they will always hold a very special place in my heart.
“I will always remember their kindness and the part they played in my life during that time. This is truly heartbreaking news to hear today.”
Georgina had also starred in DreamKeeper, Blackstone, Trickster, Three Pines, Alaska Daily and Johnny Greeneyes.
She wrote, directed, produced and starred in Older Than America. The production, which drew on her own school experiences, was released in 2008.
Georgina was a mum of three, with Cody, William and Crystle all in the acting industry.
