Jake Schreier’s X-Men movie has its cast. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has proven a record-shattering hit. Avengers: Endgame Encore is mere days away. A Ryan Gosling Ghost Rider movie is actually happening. And — AND! — Avengers: Doomsday is just around the corner, bringing with it the introduction proper of Robert Downey Jr. as one Victor Von Doom. Seriously, could things get any better for MCU fans just now? Well, if you happen to live in the UK then yes, actually, they can. As confirmed to Digital Spy by Disney, The Russo Brothers’ upcoming multiversal epic is officially set to hit British cinemas on December 16, a whole two days before the movie’s December 18 release elsewhere.
With both Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame having previously landed in UK cinemas a day or two before their wider international rollouts, and the above-mentioned Brand New Day hitting British shores a couple of days before the US and Canada, Doomsday‘s early arrival on this side of the pond isn’t necessarily surprising. Even so, with Dune: Part Three and the much-hyped Dunesday having long since been set for December 18, an earlier Doomsday drop gives British cinemagoers a chance to space out their probably-three-hour-long blockbuster epics (or, more realistically, cram in an extra trip to Latveria before the mother of all geeky double-bills.)
Before Doomsday, Dunesday, or any of those pre-Christmas festivities kick off however, Marvel stans can look forward to putting together the next piece (or about four) of Avengers: Doomsday with Avengers: Endgame Encore on September 25, which promises ‘special footage with an extended runtime’ for those who check it out in Infinity Vision and IMAX formats. *Alexa, play ‘Portals’ by Alan Silvestri* Avengers… assemble!
