Close on the heels of Andhra Pradesh Teachers Association, now it’s the turn of Ayyappa devotees to raise objections against Irumudi. After a gap, Ravi Teja tasted success with devotional action entertainer Irumudi. The film was directed by Shiva Nirvana turned out to be the highest grosser in Ravi Teja’s career.
Telugu audience lapped it up and given Rs 100 crores share in Telugu states. However, few organisations are raising objections.
Akhila Bharata Ayyappa Deeksha Prachara Samithi alleged that the film hurt the sentiments of Ayyappa devotees as the film showed them in a negative manner. They objected to the way the makers showed Ayyappa Deeksha, Guru swamis hurting the sentiments. They questioned the logic behind the makers naming the film Irumudi, a devotional name for a crime thriller. They also objected to the way the makers showed that Ayyappa swamis couldn’t resist the generation of liquor consumption. They demanded apology from the makers for these scenes. They asked the makers to go to Sabarimala and demand apology for their mistake
Earlier, AP teachers associations protested against the film for showing government teacher in a poor light . They alleged that it hurt the sentiments of the teachers and also tarnished the image of the government schools.
