Board The Polar Express from Birmingham Moor Street Station this Christmas
The Polar Express is one of the most popular Christmas experiences each and every year, and it’ll once again be departing from Birmingham Moor Street Station in 2026.
Based on the beloved 2004 uncanny valley film and Chris Van Allsburg’s book, the journey is loaded with live performances, music, festive treats, and more much more on board.
You’re even highly encouraged to wear your pyjamas throughout the trip, but don’t forget to weat an overcoat in the cold wintery air.

The theatrical show starts on the historic station platforms before you board a vintage steam-hauled train.
As you travel out through the West Midlands countryside, singing chefs dance down the aisles performing ‘Hot Chocolate’ and serving hot drinks and cookies.
The Conductor punches your Golden Ticket, actors read aloud from The Polar Express book, and Santa Claus boards the carriage to greet every family, handing each child a silver sleigh bell as ‘the first gift of Christmas ‘.
Wearing panamas, yes, even adults, is heavily encouraged and standard practice on board, but bring warm coats to wear over them for the outdoor platforms.
Tickets are on sale now, and there a few options to choose from. The first is the Classic Carriage ticket, at £63 per person.
This includes seating in a traditional carriage around a table, live theatrical performance, hot chocolate, a cookie, a Golden Ticket, and Santa’s silver sleigh bell.
Then there is the First Class Carriage ticket at £78 per person. This offers all the classic carriage perks, plus upgraded First Class armchair/booth seating with fewer total passengers, a souvenir ceramic Polar Express mug, and a branded gift bag.
Infants under the age of 2 cost £5 and must sit on an adult’s lap. Tickets are also typically sold in pairs or blocks of four because seating is arranged around tables.
