In June 2023, the body of a 62-year-old Army veteran Stuart Crocker was found at his flat in Andover, Hampshire. He’d been stabbed 26 times. What did his murder have to do with TikTok, though?
This documentary reveals the story over two parts, features interviews with both the authorities and journalists on the Andover Advertiser. We also hear from Stuart’s wife, Jennifer Crocker – from whom he was living apart – and his son, Joseph, along with neighbours and friends who help paint a picture of Stuart’s life at the time.
The TikTok personality Winter Swan-Miller had been living with Stuart for a while and, after his death, began posting that she had been a ‘bad girl’ after killing him. The 37-year-old Swan-Miller went on to post more about why she was in the right, including claims that Stuart was involved in the theft of her dog. Her posts are reproduced in this documentary, which connects the sad dots as to the why of it all – from alcohol to the fallout from Stuart’s army service to the manipulative personality that took over his life. It’s a cautionary tale that casts a chilling light on social media and the delusions that can fuel some of its users. (Two episodes)
