The Bury BID 10K event is taking place in Greater Manchester this weekend
Thousands of people are set to descend on the streets of Bury this weekend to take part in the 10K event on Sunday, September 20.
The Bury Running Festival is back for another year, organised by Jane Tomlinson’s Run For All, in partnership with Bury Council and title sponsor Bury BID, to bring together runners of all ages and abilities for a huge community fundraising event.
Starting and finishing outside The Rock Shopping Centre, the 10K route will take runners through Tottington and along Bury Road before joining the Kirklees Trail and heading back towards the town centre.

The event has been designed to be accessible to everyone, from experienced runners chasing a personal best to those taking on their first ever race.
Alongside the main 10K event, there will also be Mini and Junior races, giving young runners the chance to experience race day for themselves.
Children aged three to eight can take part in the 1.5K Mini event alongside a parent or guardian, while those aged nine to 14 can tackle the 2.5K Junior route.
This year marks the third consecutive year of support from title sponsor Bury BID, continuing a successful partnership with Run For All and Bury Council that encourages local people to get active and engage with their community.
All entrants will receive a finisher medal, chip timing, a goody bag, and a finishers t-shirt is an optional add on.
Tristan Batley-Kyle, Operations Director at Run For All, said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming thousands of runners and supporters to Bury for what promises to be another fantastic day of running and community spirit.
“Whether you’re taking on the 10K, cheering from the sidelines or supporting one of our Mini and Junior runners, there’s a real sense of occasion on race day. We’d like to wish everyone the very best of luck and thank all of our partners, volunteers and supporters for helping make the event possible.”
Councillor Tamoor Tariq, Cabinet Member for Adult Care, Health and Public Service Reform at Bury Council, said:: “The Bury Running Festival has become a fantastic fixture in our events calendar, bringing together people of all ages and abilities to get active, support good causes and celebrate our borough’s strong community spirit.
“The Bury BID 10K and Mini and Junior races showcase the very best of Bury, encouraging healthier lifestyles while also attracting visitors and supporting our local businesses.
“I’ll be joining the runners again this year and, while I certainly won’t be troubling the leaders at the front of the race, I’m looking forward to taking part alongside everyone else and doing my best to make it to the finish line.
“One of the things I love most about this event is that it welcomes people of all abilities, whether you’re chasing a personal best, taking part for a charity close to your heart, or simply determined to complete the course.”
“We’d encourage everyone to come along, whether you’re running, volunteering or cheering participants on from the sidelines. It’s always a fantastic day for Bury and a wonderful celebration of community spirit.”
