Fire Country is coming in hot with its upcoming season, once again joined by spinoff Sheriff Country. And CBS has released a new look at the upcoming crossover.
Since Sheriff Country launched last fall, the spinoff has had a handful of mini-crossovers with its predecessor. The two shows had their first major crossover event in April, and it looks like the crossovers are continuing. The trailer for Fire Country’s fifth season not only gives fans a glimpse of what Station 42 will be getting into, personally and professionally, but also features some familiar faces from the Edgewater Sheriff’s Department.
Station 42 and the Edgewater Sheriff’s Department Are Coming Together
Deadline has reported that the hit dramas will once again be coming together for an epic two-hour crossover event this fall. The crossover will air as part of the fifth episode of both Fire Country and Sheriff Country’s new season on Friday, Nov. 6. In the new trailer, Morena Baccarin’s Sheriff Mickey Fox and Matt Lauria’s Deputy Nathan Boone can be seen.
It’s unknown whether their appearances in the trailer are for the crossover or if they’re from separate guest appearances. However, from the looks of things, either way, both Mickey and Boone are going to be going through it. And there is going to be a lot happening.
In the Sheriff Country episode, “No Way In,” airing at 8 p.m. ET on Nov. 6, “When a dangerous prison break escalates into a volatile hostage crisis, Sheriff Mickey Fox must make a high-stakes decision with personal consequences that could change the course of the case and put lives on the line.” Fire Country’s Max Thieriot, Kevin Alejandro, and Jules Latimer will guest star.
Meanwhile, in Fire Country’s “No Way Out,” airing at 9 p.m. ET, “When escaped convicts trigger a dangerous manhunt, Bode (Thieriot) and the Station 42 crew join forces with Sheriff Mickey Fox and her deputies to protect their loved ones and the community caught in the crossfire.” Baccarin, Lauria, Michele Weaver, Amanda Arcuri, and Ian Quinlan will guest star.
Fire Country’s Cast Shakeup
The crossover couldn’t have come at a better time. CBS’ hit drama went through a major cast shakeup ahead of Season 4, when both Billy Burke and Stephanie Arcila departed. The series killed off Burke’s Vince Leone in the Season 4 premiere, while Arcila’s Gabriela Perez left Edgewater to recruit new firefighters nationwide.
Season 5 of Fire Country will finally welcome a new firefighter into the fold, with Olivia Thirlby joining the series regular cast as Cecilia Jade “CJ” Ryan. She’s a quick-witted and independent, decorated urban firefighter. She left her city station under mysterious circumstances, and from the looks of the trailer, she’s going to be giving 42 quite a helping hand.
In addition to the cast shakeup, there is also a behind-the-scenes shakeup. Tia Napolitano, who has been the showrunner since the beginning of Fire Country, stepped down after Season 4. Eric Guggenheim, who served as a showrunner on fellow CBS dramas Hawaii Five-0 and Magnum P.I., will be the new showrunner for Season 5.
Don’t miss the Sheriff Country and Fire Country crossover event on Friday, Nov. 6, beginning at 8 p.m. ET on CBS. The new seasons will premiere on Friday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. ET and 9 p.m. ET, respectively.
