Charli XCX recently attended the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on September 27. The star-studded night saw many celebrities making their way to the red carpet in designer outfits. The British singer wore a custom two-piece Saint Laurent look designed by Anthony Vaccarello. While she posed with confidence, some noted that she suffered a wardrobe malfunction at the prestigious event.
According to Us Weekly, the singer took to the red carpet to pose for the paparazzi. The Apple crooner wore a black velvet low-rise maxi skirt. It hugged her legs a bit with corset-like laces at the back. She paired the skirt with a matching long-sleeved cropped top featuring a plunging neckline and mesh detailing.

The sheer detailing exposed more skin than intended, with one of her nipples appearing visible through the top, according to Us Weekly. The singer continued posing for photographers.
Regardless of the slip, Charli posed with confidence. She opted for nude makeup with black smoky eyeshadow. The 34-year-old styled her straight black hair in a center partition and let the locks frame her face. Moreover, she went for minimal accessories, including a few rings on her fingers, and flaunted her maroon manicure.
The singer also gave a sneak peek at her outfits ahead of the event. Taking to her TikTok handle, she shared a video with the track Looking for the H— (Ain’t My Fault). She wrote, “Heh hi!” in the caption as she stepped away from the camera to give viewers a complete look at her ensemble.
Charli bagged four nominations at the VMAs 2026, including Best Pop, Best Art Direction, Song of the Summer, and Best Long Form Video for her Music, Fashion, and film. While she did not win any of the awards, she did present an award and even made a surprise performance appearance alongside Madonna.
She eventually changed twice following her red carpet appearance. The Official crooner wore a black mini dress with a sweetheart neckline, spaghetti straps, and white pleated detailing on the back. Charli added a pair of matching net stockings and high heels.
By the end, she changed into a rather casual outfit. Charli kept the black theme going by changing into a casual top and a pair of jeans.

While she did not win any awards, the singer already has several accolades in her name. She also shared the importance of awards in her life last year during her winning speech at the BRITs 2025.
According to Sky News, the singer bagged best dance act and artist of the year during the awards ceremony. As she received the top prize, best album, she shared what it meant to her. Charli said, “I used to tell myself awards weren’t important, and that was easy to do as until last year I wasn’t nominated for anything.”
The singer continued to express how she felt after receiving recognition for her work. “I always felt like an outsider, particularly in the British music industry; it feels really nice to get recognition for this album,” the 34-year-old said. She added, “I’ve not changed anything… I guess culture caught up with us and wanted to be on this journey.”
