Christy Carlson Romano is currently embarking on a press tour for her new book, “Once Upon a Trainwreck: This Fall and Rise of a Child Star.” Recently, in an interview, the “Evan Stevens” actress opened up about being in early development for a “Real Housewives of Austin” series before Bravo ultimately decided not to continue it in favor of another upcoming show, “Secrets, Lies, Texas Wives.”
Christy Carlson Romano Discusses The Cast For ‘The Real Housewives Of Austin’

Romano appeared on “Page Six Radio” in October 2026 while promoting her new memoir. During the episode, the actress opened up about almost becoming a Bravo star and said she’d still be interested in the show if the network ever reversed course.
She began, “I was in the cast that was being pitched for ‘The Real Housewives of Austin.” After that, she revealed the other ladies who were being considered, naming Loreal Sarkisian, who she said is married to the coach at the University of Texas at Austin, and Allison Ellsworth, the founder of Poppi.
She went on, “I think it was a bunch of really great girls.” Romano then named Becca Tobin of “Glee” fame. The actress added, “We were really cooking for a minute and then it kind of just derailed, and then they did some weird one now where I think it’s like ‘Texas Wives’ where they’re all swingers.”
Romano then joked that she “can’t compete with that” regarding the rumored swinging on the upcoming Bravo series.
Christy Discussed Her Dynamic With Becca Tobin

The interview continued with the radio show hosts lovingly calling Tobin “ruthless.” This led Romano to discuss her dynamic with the “Glee” actress, saying, “So she and I were actually kind of like going to probably be at odds.”
After that, she expressed a fondness for Tobin, saying, “I actually do like her quite a lot in retrospect.” Romano then revealed that Tobin had “first introduced herself” while they were both at a “Dancing With the Stars” Austin charity event.
Bravo Recently Announced ‘Secrets, Lies, Texas Wives’

Bravo announced plans for a new series, “Secrets, Lies, Texas Wives,” in March 2026. According to the press release, the series will be set in Texas Hill County and center on a close-knit group of women.
Per the show’s official description, “Centered on a tight-knit circle of glamorous women, this series follows their lives as they raise families, run ranches and farms, and manage sparkling social calendars in a town rooted in rodeos and tradition.”
The series’ logline then says, “Behind the polished smiles and Sunday sermons, however, there are intimate relationships and forbidden romances that test loyalties and marriages, jeopardizing the town’s pristine image and proving that perfection is far more complicated than anyone could imagine.”
According to Bravo & Cocktails, in a report from early September, filming for the new show wrapped in mid-August. The cast is also said to have filmed the confessionals, and reports say the series will premiere in early 2027.
Per the report, the show could premiere on Peacock instead of Bravo and air as a “Real Housewives” series instead of “Secrets, Lies, Texas Wives,” which was its working title anyway.
