Cindy Crawford and Rande Gerber never stopped worrying about their son, Presley Gerber, amid his years-long struggles with addiction and mental health.
“There was always concern around Presley,” a source close to the family exclusively told Page Six. “Cindy and Rande loved him tremendously, and they worried about him. They wanted him to be healthy and get to a good place.”
“They never stopped supporting him,” the insider said. “No matter what he was going through, his family was there and wanted him to get the help he needed.”
Presley died Sunday at age 27 at a rehab facility in Santa Monica. An autopsy has yet to be completed, and an official cause of death has not been released, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner.
TMZ reported Monday that authorities suspect Presley died from a drug overdose while undergoing treatment.
“Cindy is incredibly close to her children,” the source said. “Presley was her only son and she was always protective of him. She wanted nothing more than to see him doing well.”
Flowers have already begun arriving at the Crawford-Gerber family home in the wake of Presley’s death, the insider told Page Six.
Reps for Crawford and Rande did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
Presley had been candid about his battle with addiction and mental health in the months before his death.
In March, the model revealed he had undergone ibogaine treatment, writing on Instagram about finally confronting issues he had spent years avoiding. He described the experience as a turning point after struggling to relinquish control during treatment.
His famous family publicly rallied around him.
Just six months before his death, Crawford called her son a “warrior” as he shared details of his addiction battle and treatment journey.
Presley’s younger sister, Kaia Gerber, 25, also spoke candidly last month about how her brother’s decade-long struggle had affected their family.
“When something like that happens … it kind of levels everyone,” Kaia said, while praising her brother for refusing to hide what he was going through.
Presley was last publicly photographed with his parents in June, when he was seen embracing Crawford and Rande during a family outing in Malibu.
His family confirmed his death Sunday night.
“The family is asking for privacy during this very difficult and painful time,” a representative said in a statement.
Presley, who began modeling as a teenager and was signed to IMG Models at 15, is survived by Crawford, Rande and Kaia.
