Bastions of live music on Ōtautahi Christchurch, from the post-quake era to today and beyond, Darkroom are toasting their 15th birthday in style. First opened in October 2011 after the devastating February earthquake, when all was looking grim for gig culture in Canterbury, Darkroom are celebrating their journey so far with an appropriately swanky “black tie soirée” on 2nd October.
Hosts of many legendary times and consistently fighting the good fight against inner city noise restrictions, Darkroom have invited friends Violet French and the Woolston Operatic Society and The Mulls to play some tunes, and there will naturally be nibbles and refreshing beverage options at hand. Dig out your finest fit (note the dress code details), salute these local independent venue heroes, and get ready to walk the red carpet at 336 St Asaph St…
