Day 1: Vishwanath and Sons Starts With a Bang

Suriya and Mamitha Baiju’s Vishwanath and Sons has made a strong start at the box office, collecting Rs 27.51 crore worldwide on its opening day.

Directed by Venky Atluri, the film earned Rs 15.15 crore net in India on Day 1, according to Sacnilk. The domestic gross stood at Rs 17.51 crore, while overseas markets contributed another Rs 10 crore.

With these figures, the film’s worldwide gross reached Rs 27.51 crore.

Vishwanath and Sons was screened across 5,034 shows in India and registered an overall occupancy of 42.2% on its first day.

The Tamil version contributed Rs 9.15 crore to the India net collection, while the Telugu version added Rs 6 crore.

Telugu Version Records Better Occupancy

The Tamil version recorded an overall occupancy of 41.38% on Day 1. Morning shows registered 29.85%, afternoon shows 33.54%, evening shows 36.38%, and night shows saw the strongest turnout at 62.69%.

The Telugu version performed slightly better, registering an overall occupancy of 52.35%.

Morning shows recorded 33%, afternoon shows 46.33%, evening shows 44.42%, and night shows climbed to 67.33%.

Premium Telugu formats also registered impressive occupancy. HDR by Bar screenings recorded 98.50%, while EPIQ shows registered 96.33%.

Tamil Nadu Leads Day 1 Collections

Tamil Nadu emerged as the biggest contributor to the film’s domestic gross, collecting Rs 7.25 crore on the opening day.

Andhra Pradesh and Telangana together contributed Rs 6.75 crore, while Karnataka added Rs 1.80 crore.

Kerala contributed Rs 1.50 crore, while the rest of India added Rs 21 lakh.

The combined domestic gross stood at Rs 17.51 crore.

Vishwanath and Sons comes after Suriya’s previous release Karuppu and sees the actor move into a family-oriented subject.

The story revolves around a wealthy businessman and an Olympian whose lives become connected through a surrogate child.

The film explores whether their relationship can eventually turn into marriage despite their personal reservations and age difference.
