Domhnall Gleeson got the General Hux treatment during his first visit to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
The Rise of Skywalker actor recently revealed what it was like to ride Disney’s Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance ride as an actor in the sci-fi franchise—especially since his ruthless commander-turned-double agent features prominently during the attraction.
“I have quite a big part in the Star Wars [ride],” he told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show on Sept. 10. “My character’s telling you what to do and where to go, and all the rest of it.”
When Gleeson finally got to experience the attraction himself, he tried to remain under the radar, but he was quickly spotted by the First Order’s troops.
“There’s people playing Stormtroopers on the ride—it’s massive,” he recalled. “When I went, I kind of snuck in, and one of the Stormtroopers came over and said, ‘It’s good to see you undercover, General,’ when I was doing the ride.”
“They stayed in character, and when I was leaving, they all saluted me,” the actor added. “It was amazing. They were so great.”
This isn’t the first time Gleeson has had his own movie-to-theme park crossover moment. Back in 2014, the Harry Potter star celebrated Universal Studios Orlando’s grand opening for their Diagon Alley attraction—including the unveiling of their Escape from Gringotts ride.
Gleeson played Bill Weasley in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and Part 2. It’s a role that skyrocketed him to stardom—and one that is expected to be cast once more as HBO adapts the famed book series for television.
When SYFY Wire recently asked Gleeson about the next generation of Harry Potter stars, he explained that passing the torch for him means allowing the new cast to approach their Hogwarts experience in their own way.
“It’s a new iteration of the same story, so that character is that actor’s—and should remain so,” he shared. “That’s how I always feel about that. Whoever’s doing it now, it’s theirs.”
Fans can see Gleeson next in the fantasy-comedy The Incomers, out now in the UK and Ireland and hitting theaters in the US on Sept. 25.
