The Sear and Stew 6.5L Oval Slow Cooker is currently priced at £74.99 on Morphy Richards’ website. It is also available on Amazon, Currys and Debenhams.

This slow cooker has a 6.5 litre capacity and an ‘innovative hob-to-slow cooker design’. For the best results, it is advised to prepare meals in the hob-proof cooking pot for searing and stewing in the same pan.

The shatterproof cooking pot has a glass lid to enable you to check progress, without losing steam. Yimbly says the slow cooker ‘accommodates upwards of 10 starters or eight main dishes’.

Elsewhere, Lakeland’s 6.5L Searing Slow Cooker costs £99.99. The slow cooker has five pre-set browning settings for searing meat and veg, as well as four pre-set cooking functions.

Argos sells the Russell Hobbs 7L Slow Cooker for £44.99. It comes in a soft navy colour, and the ceramic pot is dishwasher-safe.

Back to the Morphy Richards Sear and Stew 6.5L Oval Slow Cooker, while there are no reviews on Yimbly at the time of writing, it does have a 4.7 star rating on Amazon.

Susan said: “This slow cooker is amazing. Can fit two large Christmas puddings in it. Brilliant value for your money, I love it.”

Susie posted: “Love this slow cooker as it gets hotter than my last one and cooks the food better, very pleased with purchase.”

A third shopper commented: “Loving this, so easy to use, being able to brown meat on the hob first, good set of heat levels, so meat came out so tender. Also good value for money as suitable for a family, but I batch cook, so it serves its purpose for me. Great colour and easy to clean.”

Richard penned: “Great purchase. An idiot proof way to make family meals. Follow the simple instructions to make wonderful, tender and flavour-filled dishes. Bought two, one as a gift, on the strength of its performance… Oh, and it looks great.”

However, Annie wrote: “I cook for four in this cooker, but it is much too big, and you have to half fill it. Don’t buy unless you have a very large family.”

And another customer added: “Cooked a few times in the last two weeks, I’m not disappointed, the stove top sear part is good, the dish is super light (better than the heavy ceramic), the cooking part faultless, no complaints.”
