Reimagining Aotearoa electronic dance music with the inclusive eureka concept known as Footmahi, Ōtautahi’s The Big Fresh Collective are now a beloved institution amongst partygoers across the motu. Winners of the Te Tohu Kohinga Mariu (Album of the Year) SRN award for their classic Footmahi 2022 compilation, BFC are reemerging for two momentous launch parties for Footmahi 2026 World Cup, taking over Galaxy Bar in the garden city on 25th October, as well as a currently top secret location in our windy capital.
These will be both glorious and deeply weepy occasions, as The Big Fresh Collective don Liam K. Swiggs has announced his retirement, after more than a decade of dedicated and prolific duty as DJ, producer, flyer designer, and visionary compilation curator. Instigator of such era-defining works as the Footmahi series, JET SET GHETTO TECH, ‘BELFAST BOTTLESTORE BANDIT’, the infamous Redwood Patrol Tape, multiple fundraisers, and so much more, we encourage you to head along and salute this straight up legend of proudly local music. Ōtautahi AND Te Whanaganui a Tara will simultaneously host two of the HOTTEST gigs of the calendar year.

This will be the first two BFC run shows in well over a year and it also doubles down as an extra special occasion – The Ōtautahi show will double as the RETIREMENT PARTY for long serving don of The Big Fresh Collective Liam K. Swiggs as he hangs up the decks after a shining career spanning well over a decade behind the wheels of steel <3
The Ōtautahi show will serve as the hottest after party to the Kiwis VS Cook Islands Rugby League World Cup game in town with the venue located in walking distance from One New Zealand stadium – whilst Te Whanaganui a Tara’s show will be held at a top secret location with details to come in the next couple of weeks!
Star-studded line-ups to all be revealed soon after the two head coaches get their final team lists through for the big day – but already confirmed in Ōtautahi’s starting team is the legendary LAKEBOON representing the Kuki’s HARD.
All proceeds from this Christchurch show will be donated towards junior rugby league development in Ōtautahi
