Marks & Spencer has already started to stock its shelves with transitional fashion ahead of autumn. With September just a couple of weeks away, now is the perfect time to start building your seasonal capsule wardrobe and we’ve picked some items to inspire you.
M&S is known for its high quality yet affordable designs which have become increasingly trendy over the years. The site currently stocks everything from everyday jeans, to cosy knitted tops, the perfect light jackets and so much more.

Crew Neck Short Knitted Top With Wool
The Crew Neck Short Knitted Top With Wool, £20, has a smart/casual look with a T shirt-style design and slim fit. Paired perfectly with some jeans or wide leg trousers, the top is available in four versatile colours: black, dark aubergine, mid grey marl, and medium beige.
Shoppers can choose between sizes extra small, small, medium, large, and extra large. Despite just launching on the site, the knitted crew neck has already received some glowing reviews.
The Wide-Leg Jeans
The M&S Wide-Leg Jeans, £36, are the perfect everyday jeans which you can dress up or down depending on the occasion. They’re available in eight different shades meaning you can collect a few pairs to add to your outfit rotations.
The mole shade (pictured) is a great transitional colour as it’s not too dark but has an autumnal feel. Sizes range from 6 to 22 with petite, regular, and long options available.
Suedette Button Through Short Jacket
The Suedette Button Through Short Jacket features a smart wide collar and button through front. Cut to a regular fit with a length that just meets the waist, the £55 jacket is ideal for pairing with jeans, tailored trousers, or skirts during mild autumn days.
Shoppers can choose between ‘grey blue’ and olive colours, with sizes ranging from 6 to 24. Described as “classy” and “well structured”, the Suedette Button Through Short Jacket has already nabbed the number one best-selling spot on the M&S website.
Denim Midi Skirt
The Denim Midi Skirt is the perfect transitional piece for cooler days when you’re not yet ready to give up skirts and dresses. Priced at £40, it has ample volume and a panelled design which you could pair with anything from a blouse to a T shirt or jumper.
An elasticated waistband makes it comfortable for everyday while subtle fading to the fabric hives it an ‘authentic denim vibe’. Sizes range from 6 to 24 with petite, regular, and tall options, but at the time of writing sizes 20 and 24 have already sold out.
