Frank Turner announces he’ll quit touring after 2027 show in London

Singer-songwriter Frank Turner has announced that he intends to take a break from live performances for the foreseeable future, after he concludes the 10th edition of his Lost Evenings festival next year.

Turner, 44, made the announcement on his social media this week, writing: “My dear friends, as a skinny half-arsed English country singer once said, the only thing certain is that everything changes.

“After 28 years on the road, 10 albums and well over 3,000 shows, it’s time for a change. As announced yesterday, next year’s Lost Evenings will take place in London, at OVO Arena Wembley. It will be the biggest, best and final edition of the festival.”

Turner then revealed: “The four shows there will be my last for the foreseeable future.”

The “Get Better” star said there were a number of reasons behind his decision, not least the fact that he has been on the road for most of his life.

“I want to try new things,” he said. “I want to recharge, spend more time with my friends and family, and explore other ways of life. I’m excited to pursue other ideas and projects.”

Turner pointed out that the realities of touring today had also played a part in his decision: “The economics of touring have gotten harder, the music industry has been swallowed by social media in a way that doesn’t really interest me, and as I get older my physical and mental health could do with some care.”

Still, Turner said he was “excited for the future” and wanted to leave the stage “with my head high”.

His final shows next year would be “a pinnacle”, he said, and a “chance for all of us to celebrate the last 20 years and bid them the farewell they deserve”.

Turner thanked his band, the Sleeping Souls, as well as his record label, touring crew and “everyone who worked on my music with me over the years”.

“But mostly I’m grateful to you; the people who made it possible, by giving me your time and attention,” he concluded. “There are many friends I’ve made, many faces I know, but truly, to every single person who ever cared – thank you.”

Turner has released 10 solo albums, as well as two albums with his post-hardcore band Million Dead, and various other projects.

His 2013 album Tape Deck Heart is widely regarded as his commercial breakthrough, while he achieved his first ever Number One album on the UK charts in 2022 with FTHC.

He separated from his wife Jessica Guise in 2024, the year he released his most recent album, Undefeated. In a public shared statement, Guise said she had “no choice but to accept” their marriage was over after “things [came] to light about Frank’s actions on his US tour” in June that year.

In a later statement posted to his Instagram in October last year, Turner said he wanted to address “gossip, misrepresentation and untruths” about his personal life.

“I wasn’t looking, but I met my soulmate; the most wonderful person I’ve ever known,” he wrote. “I made a connection that is unlike anything I ever experienced. I found a joy, acceptance and love that still has me pinching myself. I found peace beyond my understanding, one that I sincerely wish for everyone.”

The 10th edition Turner’s Lost Evenings festival takes place from 4 – 7 November 2027 at Wembley Arena in London, with Turner & the Sleeping Souls headlining and further artists performing across two stages.
