Pinto, last seen in the Indian film Love Sonia in 2018, will headline an OTT adaptation of Jhumpa Lahiri’s Unaccustomed Earth, a new family drama about an Indian-American community negotiating love, longing, loss and belonging.
Pinto plays a wife and mother who sacrificed her first love in college to honour her father’s wishes. When she receives a life-changing cancer diagnosis, she moves her family from India to Cambridge, Massachusetts — the one place where she truly felt at home. Determined to finally pursue the life she was forced to give up, her choices shake up the lives of those around her and have far-reaching consequences for the immigrant community.
