FX‘s Far Cry series has added several more well-known actors to its cast.
The new additions to the video game adaptation from creators Noah Hawley and Rob Mac are Brendan Gleeson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Hamish Linklater, Sam Spruell and Jamie Demetriou. They join an ensemble that also includes Mac, Lizzy Caplan and Steve Buscemi.
As with previous cast announcements, details on each actor’s role aren’t being released for the time being.
Leigh, Linklater and Spruell have all worked with Hawley in the past. All three have appeared on Fargo (Leigh and Spruell in season five, Linklater in season three); Linklater also starred in Legion, and Spruell has a role in season two of Alien: Earth.
Far Cry is slated to be an anthology series for FX: Like the Ubisoft video game franchise, each season will have a new setting and new cast. Hawley (via his 26 Keys Productions) and Mac (via his More Better Productions) are executive producing the series with Simon Emanuel, Emilia Serrano of 26 Keys, Nicholas Frenkel of 3 Arts, Monica Macer, Peter Calloway, John Campisi, and Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin and Austin Dill of Ubisoft Film & Television. FX Productions is the studio.
Gleeson is coming off of Spider-Noir at Prime Video and stars with Rose Byrne and Meghann Fahy in Peacock’s limited series The Good Daughter, set to premiere in November. The Ocscar nominee (for The Banshees of Inisherin) is repped by CAA and Principal Entertainment.
Leigh is also an Oscar nominee, for Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight. Her recent credits also include Netflix’s Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen, a recurring part on ABC’s High Potential and Crime 101. She is repped by CAA and Untitled Entertainment.
Linklater earned a guest acting Emmy nomination this year for Widow’s Bay. He also starred in season two of The Boys spinoff Gen V at Prime Video and can currently be seen in Netflix’s movie The Whisper Man. He is repped by Untitled Entertainment, Gersh and Johnson Shapiro.
Spruell’s credits include A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, Ridley Scott’s The Dog Stars and The Gold at the BBC. He is repped by Lou Coulson Associates and Luber Roklin Entertainment.
Demetriou is set to host SNL UK this week and has upcoming parts in Netflix’s Pride and Prejudice adaptation, premiering in December, and the London-set sixth season of Only Murders in the Building. He is repped by United Agents, CAA and Multitude Media.
