Gabby Logan admits concerns for daughter Lois after awkward TV moment

Gabby Logan has admitted that she was mentally telling her daughter, Lois, to “be quiet” when they made a TV appearance together. Gabby’s comments came to light while she spoke to comedian and fellow TV presenter Romesh Ranganathan, host of The Weakest Link, about the internal “edit” that takes place in their minds when filming.

Gabby, who shares twins Reuben and Lois with ex-Scotland rugby star Kenny Logan, chatted to Romesh about how they know instinctively which moments from the show will end up on the cutting-room floor.

A TV and radio veteran and well-known sports host, Gabby has appeared in everything from the Olympics to Match of the Day. Recently, she and Lois starred in Romesh’s ITV show Parents’ Evening.

Gabby told the Romesh Ranganathan Show on YouTube about the edits: “You sit there going, ‘This bit not so much. this bit not’, you know, because you kind of know what, you know what is gonna make the edit in the end, which is…of course, Lois would’ve had no idea, you know, as a 20-year-old who’s never been on TV before.”

She added: “So, I’d be thinking, she’d be saying to me…I’m thinking, ‘Oh, be quiet. You’re not helping anybody here, Lois’.”

In the comedy game show, celebrity contestants team up with their family members, with parents gambling on how many questions their children will answer correctly.

Romesh inquired how Lois found the experience. Gabby revealed that her daughter “really enjoyed” it and “loved” Romesh. Gabby also noted that it was a “lovely show” to be a part of due to his “great” audience.

In other news, Gabby recently confessed that she wasn’t aware of one vital aspect of her career when she was starting out more than three decades ago. Speaking to The Outnet, she admitted that she “didn’t even know” that women could be sports broadcasters.

“When I started out, I didn’t even know that women could be sports broadcasters, so the industry and everything around it has changed so much, and as we’re finding out now, it’s about adapting and having a few strings to your bow and doing other things.”

Gabby, the daughter of the late Wales football legend Terry Yorath, has previously spoken about an incident that motivated her. “One of the most misogynistic things that was ever said to me by one of my bosses at Sky, who told me I’d be off his screen by the time I was 28,” she explained.

She told Hello’s Second Act podcast: “And so at 24, I thought, my God, I better get everything done then, because I’ve only got four years of career. Thankfully, he was wrong.

“But you can imagine the urgency that that instilled in me and how I felt like I literally thought ‘if I could push it to 30.'”
