Gen V’s Asa Germann cast as Angel in Marvel’s X-Men reboot

After unveiling the initial cast at D23 last month, Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters has enrolled another student with THR reporting that Gen V and Scream 7 star Asa Germann has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot in the role of Warren Worthington III, better known as Angel.

According to the trade’s report, Germann had initially auditioned for the role of Scott Summers/Cyclops in the upcoming film and while he missed out on portraying the X-Men’s field leader, the actor seemingly impressed Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige and director Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*) enough to be offered the part of the winged mutant Angel.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Angel is an OG member of the X-Men, having debuted as part of the original team line-up in 1963’s The X-Men #1 alongside Cyclops, Beast, Iceman and Marvel Girl (Jean Grey). The character has also featured in both of 20th Century Fox’s X-Men movie timelines, with Ben Foster taking on the role in 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand and Ben Hardy playing the ‘First Class’ incarnation in 2016’s X-Men: Apocalypse
