It’s always good-news bad-news when it comes to those pesky Gremlins. Cute-as-a-button and with an earworm of a theme tune, but feed them after midnight or get them wet and you’re viewing of Snow White is ruined forever.
That’s a roundabout way of saying that Warner Bros. has given audiences their first look at the Christopher Columbus-directed Untitled Gremlins sequel, but at the same time they’ve announced that the 26-years in the making movie has been delayed from November 19, 2027, to October 6. 2028.
Steven Spielberg will return as executive producer, alongside Maiden Voyage’s Eleanor Columbus, who along with Christopher Columbus has been behind the critically-acclaimed Nosferatu, and Robert Eggers forthcoming horror Werwulf.
The official title of the film, plot details, or any casting news has not yet been revealed, although original star Zach Galligan did post an eyes emoji when retweeting the teaser, which you can check out below…

Released in 1984, Gremlins was directed by Joe Dante and tells the story of Billy Peltzer (Galligan) who receives a strange and exotic pet named Gizmo from his father. The creature comes with a set of rules – avoid bright light, never get them wet, and never feed them after midnight – which inevitably get broken, leading to the birth of a horde of destructive monsters on his small town.
The film was a smash hit, grossing over $200 million worldwide and even more in merchandising. The 1990 sequel, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, also directed by Dante, leaned into the comedy a lot more, and only earned just over $40 million at the box-office.
