The first full trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero has confirmed the sequel will feature King Ghidorah.
Toho’s minute-and-a-half trailer starts off as many may have expected. It’s carnage for familiar characters like Ryunosuke Kamiki’s Kôichi Shikishima and Minami Hamabe’s Noriko Ôishi as what seems to be Godzilla has returned, but then we hear the familiar screech of the King of the Monsters’ most iconic foe.
“Don’t worry,” one character in the Godzilla Minus Zero trailer can be heard saying as Ghidorah’s call creeps in, “this isn’t Godzilla we’re talking about.”
“War reduced Japan to zero, and Godzilla plunged it into minus,” an official description said. “Two years have passed since then, and the country has faced agonizing struggles to achieve recovery and finally reclaim its daily life. Just as humanity managed to cling to a hard-won peace, a new threat strikes, crushing hope in an instant. There is no third time. Everything ends here.”
Fans have long speculated that Toho’s Godzilla Minus One sequel would introduce a second kaiju for Godzilla to face off against, but theories have failed to center on one creature. One of the funnier theories, for example, saw viewers (mostly jokingly) speculating that an Anguirus variant they dubbed “Gravity Anguirus” would be the one responsible for some of the floating debris shown in previous teasers.

Alas, Gravity Anguirus will not be fighting this more brutal take on Godzilla, but King Ghidorah should suffice. In hindsight, Ghidorah’s “Monster Zero” alias does line up with the film’s title.
The three-headed, lightning-breathing monster unfortunately doesn’t make a proper appearance in the Godzilla Minus Zero trailer, but the sound of Ghidorah’s roar is unmistakable. There’s also the fact that we see a shot of what seems to be a yellow scale, as well as a glimpse of Godzilla falling from the sky, teasing the idea that we’re in for an all-out kaiju brawl this November.
Godzilla Minus Zero is scheduled to drop into theaters November 6, 2026, meaning there isn’t much time for Toho to reveal what its new Ghidorah will look like – if it doesn’t plan on saving the reveal for theaters, of course. There’s more than the introduction of another monster backing the Godzilla sequel as an especially important release, though.
As noted multiple times in the trailer, Godzilla Minus Zero is the first Japanese production filmed for Imax after Minus One premiered to critical and commercial success on its legendarily low budget back in 2023. The sequel was once again handled by writer, director, and VFX supervisor Takashi Yamazaki, but judging by the mentions of there being “no third time,” it doesn’t seem as though there will ever be a third movie.
For now, it’s unclear how exactly King Ghidorah and Godzilla will meet. While we wait for Godzilla Minus Zero to arrive, you can check out IGN’s 8/10 review. “A grand, sweeping blockbuster, Godzilla Minus One is light on terror and heavy on spectacle,” we said at the time.
