‘Gravity Falls’ Officially Returns With New Disney Release

Gravity Falls may have only lasted two seasons, but Disney has never really managed to keep the Mystery Shack closed. Alex Hirsch‘s animated series ended Dipper and Mabel Pines’ very strange summer back in 2016, and fans have spent the years since finding new reasons to return to a town filled with gnomes, cryptids, conspiracies, and one particularly terrifying triangle.

The series itself hasn’t returned for a third season, despite years of fans asking for one, but the world of Gravity Falls has continued to grow outside of television. Journal 3 gave fans a much closer look at the mysteries Dipper spent the series trying to solve, while The Book of Bill handed things over to Bill Cipher for a decidedly more sinister trip back into the show’s mythology. Now, Disney is bringing back another major piece of Gravity Falls history.

During the Future of Digital Comics: Disney, Marvel, & WEBTOON panel at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney announced that Gravity Falls: Lost Legends is officially coming to WEBTOON in 2027. The graphic novel will join a new slate of Disney, Marvel, and Star Wars comics heading to the digital platform, giving fans a new way to experience four stories set in the wonderfully weird world of Gravity Falls.

‘Gravity Falls: Lost Legends’ Brings Dipper and Mabel Back for Four More Stories

Originally released in 2018, Gravity Falls: Lost Legends was written by series creator Hirsch and picks up with characters from across the original series. Rather than telling one extended story, the graphic novel contains four separate adventures featuring Dipper, Mabel, Stan, Ford, Pacifica, and more familiar faces. The stories are tied together by Shmebulock, the gnome cursed to spend nearly all of his existence saying nothing but his own name, who is finally able to tell his stories during the one night every 1,000 years when he can speak normally. Hirsch was joined by an extensive creative team for Lost Legends, with artwork from Meredith Gran, Stephanie Ramirez, Asaf Hanuka, Jacob Chabot, Priscilla Tang, and The Owl House creator Dana Terrace. The collection was designed to feel like another piece of the series itself, complete with the codes, supernatural weirdness, humor, and surprisingly heartfelt character moments that helped turn Gravity Falls into one of Disney’s most enduring animated hits.

The WEBTOON release also continues a partnership between Disney and the digital comics platform that began in 2025. Disney has been bringing stories from its massive comics library to WEBTOON, including titles from Marvel, Star Wars, and its other brands, adapting them for an audience accustomed to reading comics on phones. Lost Legends is an especially natural fit considering how much of Gravity Falls has always been about digging through pages, hunting for clues, and discovering something strange hidden just out of sight.

It still isn’t Gravity Falls Season 3, but after ten years, fans have gotten pretty good at taking their trips back to the Mystery Shack wherever they can find them. Gravity Falls: Lost Legends will make its WEBTOON debut in 2027.
