The Great British Sewing Bee final has come to an end as either Anna, Beth, or Emma will be crowned as this year’s winner.

It looks as though the pressure was on for one fan-favourite.
During the final instalment of The Great British Sewing Bee, BBC viewers saw Anna, Beth and Emma given their last pattern challenge of the series before a winner was announced. The trio discovered they’d be creating a bow tie and a cummerbund and were given the option of adding an interface lining.
As judges Patrick Grant and Esme Young touched on the challenge with host Sophie Willan, they explained that the extra lining would give the bow tie some extra plumpness. However, Emma decided to construct her accessory without the added layer, while Anna and Beth opted to include it.
Although it seemed their decision wasn’t the correct option, Anna quickly ran into an issue when she told the camera she was having ‘concerns’.
Confessing the interfacing was ‘not working in my favour’, the star informed the camera she would need to cut it out and begin afresh, after acknowledging it wasn’t going to work, reports Wales Online.
Enquiring whether Beth had managed to tie her bow, she was also using an interface lining and encountered the same difficulty. Anna called it ‘crazy’ to cut out another bow tie as the clock ticked down, sharing her concerns before issuing a five-word remark, commending, ‘Now the tension is on’.
Also, when redoing theirs, Beth called it ‘risky’ to restart with 30 minutes left in the challenge. Nevertheless, the pair managed to successfully finish on time as all three garments were inspected by the judges.
In the end, both Esme and Patrick decided Anna’s bow tie and cummerbund were the best out of the three, making her the winner of the final pattern challenge.
Speaking about the win, Anna highlighted she had also won the first pattern challenge in the series, making it a nice ‘beginning and end’
At the beginning of the competition, Patrick spoke to This Morning presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary about this year’s contestants. He confessed: “There is some real, real talent. Somebody this year, I think, is the best person we’ve ever seen.”
Elsewhere, he spoke about newcomer Sophie Willian, who replaced Sara Pascoe as presenter of the BBC show this year. Singing her praises, Patrick said at the time: “The incredible Sophie, who did the whole thing with most of a baby inside her.
“She was almost fully due at the end of the series, and she just brought this amazing energy. I mean, I loved Alma’s Not Normal. If anybody hasn’t watched it, it’s on the iPlayer and it’s amazing. One of the best comedy creations we’ve ever seen. She’s amazing, and I’ve loved working with her.”
