Whether you’re a die-hard Potterhead or a casual fan, most would agree that Dobby is one of the most cherished characters in the wizarding world. The house-elf makes his appearance at the very start of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.

Renowned for his pure heart, unwavering loyalty to Harry and courageous pursuit of freedom, Dobby ultimately meets his end in the final book of the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Over at Lego, the Dobby the Free Elf kit is proving to be a hit – and it’s easy to understand why.

The Dobby the Free Elf kit ordinarily retails at £29.99, but there’s a way to snap it up for under £13 thanks to TopCashback’s latest deal. While the process may sound complicated, it’s completely free, straightforward and quick to complete.

The Dobby the Free Elf kit is a 2-in-1 model-building set. The brick-built Dobby figure is fully articulated, allowing you to display him in sitting, standing or walking positions.

Users can also personalise the figure and recreate iconic film scenes with accessories including Dobby’s distinctive trainers, Tom Riddle’s diary with a fabric sock inside, Skele-Gro potion bottle and sparkles. The kit can also be reassembled into house-elf Kreacher, though both cannot be built at the same time.

The posable figure comes with a fork accessory, similar to the one Kreacher used to poke Mundungus. It also includes the Slytherin Locket, renowned for being one of Lord Voldemort’s hidden Horcruxes.

The set is appropriate for Lego enthusiasts aged eight and above. The kit comprises 379 bricks and should take up to three hours to complete, depending on your ability and experience.

Alternatively, the Harry Potter Make Your Own Arts and Craft Kit Dobby is available for £6 on Amazon. The cardboard construction kit allows children to craft a Dobby figure from cardboard without requiring scissors or glue.

Also worth considering, the Harry Potter Golden Snitch Wooden Construction Kit has been discounted to £15 from £25 at MenKind. This charming DIY project invites you to piece together the elusive Golden Snitch without glue, making it an enjoyable activity for fans of all ages.

As you tug the string, the Snitch takes flight, its elegant wooden wings fluttering as though desperately trying to escape – a mesmerising spectacle that brings the enchantment of the Wizarding World straight into your home. Complete with a sleek display mount, this intricately crafted piece can be proudly exhibited on a shelf or table.

Over at Lego, the Dobby the Free Elf kit has accumulated an impressive overall star rating of 4.8 out of five, based on 17 reviews. One delighted customer remarked: “This Dobby Lego set was fun to build and looks great when completed. It has a lot of pieces and is immersive. It stands at a good height when built and is easily noticeable. It’s 2-in-1 and can be shown as a different character, too. It also has accompanying accessories to create a scene. It’s a perfect piece for a Harry Potter fan.”

A second reviewer wrote: “I love this little guy. Construction wasn’t too hard. Each little piece of him was so cute to create. I like that he can stand or sit, and he comes with a bunch of cute accessories. I’m gonna keep him on my shelf in the living room.

“We love Harry Potter. We watch the whole series at least once a year. I thought it was really cute that there’s actually a little sock in his book. You can make a Dobby or a Kreature with this kit. This is a great, inexpensive gift for any Harry Potter fan.”

A third penned: “I absolutely loved building this Lego. If you’re a Harry Potter fan, this is definitely a must-have for your collection. The instructions are easy to follow, the building experience is fun, and the finished model looks adorable.

“Dobby features movable arms, legs, and head, so you can display him in different poses. It also comes with iconic accessories that make the set even more special. The brick quality is excellent, as expected from Lego, and the finished build is fantastic.”

One customer, however, wasn’t impressed with the Dobby the Free Elf kit, awarding it a one-star review. They stated: “I have the previous Dobby Lego set, and after this release, I feel like Lego’s design is lazy.

“When you compare Dobby’s set to those of Gizmo, Wickett, the Sorting Hat, Grogu, Tweety, Bugs Bunny, R2D2, the Cornish Pixy, Groot, and others… Dobby’s set just feels lazy. Where are the sets where he’s got a bludger?

“Or he’s hanging from a chandelier? And why is every design of him so small? He’s the same size as the Cornish Pixy with not even half of the detail Lego put into the other sets I mentioned.”

Despite this, another shopper was delighted with their recent Lego acquisition, commenting: “Building this set was a fun and relaxing experience from start to finish. I especially enjoyed watching the build evolve as more details were added. The finished model looks fantastic. I’m buying another one to build Kreacher.”

Another five-star review states: “This Lego set is so cool. I love the Harry Potter theme, and this Dobby set will add a perfect touch to my bookshelf. It was easy to assemble, and the construction looks quite durable. It is not very big, so it will not be difficult to find a nice spot in your house. It is a nice way to spend your evening.”
