The new HBO Harry Potter series has given fans a glimpse at what they can expect from the upcoming remake of the beloved tale.

An original Harry Potter star hasn’t held back on sharing their thoughts on the reboot.
This week, Harry Potter fans were thrilled when a brand-new trailer was released for the upcoming TV series, which is set to air later this year. Although excitement is building among fans of the beloved story, it seems as though not everyone shares the same view.
Actress Miriam Margolyes appeared on This Morning on Thursday (September 3) to speak about her new book. However, before they touched on it, presenters Andi Peters and Christine Lampard were speaking about the new Harry Potter series, as she starred in the original film.
The ITV presenter said: “Our guest Miriam, right there, is featured in this story as it happens. Excitement is building for the new Harry Potter TV series. Last night, a brand new trailer was released.”
After viewers were shown the trailer, Andi asked: “Miriam, it’s been 25 years since you played Professor Sprout [in the film], are you excited about the remake?”
Not holding back, she replied: “Not really, to be honest. I mean, I wish them well, I hope it goes well indeed. But, we were better, that’s all I can say.” Christine was quick to cut in, as she highlighted that she understood where Miriam was coming from.
Stating that Miriam was in the ‘OG’, the This Morning host shared that this is now a different era for a new wave of fans.
Miriam replied: “It’s a different era, but it’s a great story, and the kids will enjoy it, that’s what it’s about. But, I want them to read, not just look at screens.”
Despite Miriam’s less-than-enthusiastic approach to the Harry Potter series, people were quick to comment on the trailer when it was released online.
It featured actress Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, informing students they needed to be sorted into their houses.
It later showed Arabella Stanton as Hermione trying to make friends on the Hogwarts Express. Meanwhile, Alastair Stout features as Ron Weasley as he attempts to read his acceptance letter before jam is spilt on it.
Viewers then got to see Dominic McLaughlin as Harry, who gets his turn in the sorting hat in the Great Hall before being told he’s in Gryffindor.
On Instagram, one person said: “Twice in one lifetime is crazy!” As another added: “It looks like a perfect balance between being new and different to the films without being too different to the point it feels wrong.”
Someone else shared: “You know I’m cryin’? I’m cryin” While another wrote: “WHAT A TIME TO BE ALIVE.”
Viewers have a little while longer to wait to watch the series as Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will premiere this Christmas on HBO Max.
